He ran the thought through his brain, as he killed his next man. The fool had dared to step in close with Vol, thinking that if he beat the reach of Vol's warhammer, he would have the advantage. But Vol had simply abandoned the weapon without second thought, and he'd reached an iron hand behind the man's neck, before headbutting him with all his might. He felt the man's skull cave within his grip, and he released him, allowing him to fall to the ground beneath his feet. He retrieved his warhammer with a muted expression.
Ten more villagers died. Whatever Vol thought he had, he was beginning to lose at an impossible rate. He could feel the tide of battle turning against them, and when it went like this, not only would it be more difficult to crawl back, it would make their losses mount even faster.
