Of course, that was an interpretation that couldn't be helped, given that it seemed Brighteyes was involved in every slight bit of strangeness that had affected Vol as of late. It was hard to put all his little attacks to the back of his mind without thinking that they had been part of some grander scheme. It certainly seemed that way. From the attack in Darling, to the kidnapping of the village women in Karsam, they all seemed to be little acts of spite done in order to lead up to this single grand event.
And now it could get no grander. The Earl had managed to involve the King of all people. Those flags pinned into the earth confirmed that fact, even if all the other evidence that they'd already gathered did not.
