Chapter 17 – The Sea
So it was that news spread of Vol's slaying of an Earl. He left the head there, right where the battle had occurred, and he impaled it on a spike, next to Bogan's.
For the corpses, he strung the both of them up in the trees, with the limbs cut from the torso, and left in other branches, as if someone had lost them, and forgotten to put them back together again.
It was a grizzly sight, and the Sea Serpents made sure to make it even more grizzly when they remembered how Earl Maddon and Earl Brighteyes would be passing through. They needed the soldiers to see the work they had done, and they needed to fear it.
