Past the next hill, they caught their first glimpse of Earl Soleg's banners. That was when the Sea Serpents really began to stiffen. They were well rested now, after the previous battle with Maddon. Any injuries that they might have were healed as a result of the System's regeneration. Even Vagrin was on a horse again, with sword in hand. Jev too was back in the saddle, after incurring a particularly nasty wound himself.
Soleg's flags bore the sigil of his border wall, in all its grandness. It seemed a somewhat ironic image for his House, for that wall was now reduced to the barest few scraps of brick. It wasn't anything that inspired strength, not like it must have been all those hundreds of years ago.
