"You were defending me," Penelope reminded him.
"What could I have done if they came in, though? You saw me, Princess. Could barely stand for half the battle. I was no good at all," Vagrin said bitterly.
"Enough," Vol said, waving his hand. He had the window open, and he was stealing the occasional glance behind their carriage to acknowledge what was going on behind them. As of yet, they still did not have cavalry coming their way. They were keeping the horses to mere trots, and taking care not to tire them, knowing full well they would have to travel a distance.
