"He's halfway to death already," the Earl said. "Look at his face. That is why he's filled with so much scorn for us. He thinks he's going to slip away already. I know nothing of magics, true enough, but there is a price for everything, and that power is beyond him. He'd paid a price too that is beyond him as well."
