The creature obeyed in an instant. The Corpse Soldiers stood mutely unaware, until all of a sudden, one of them had been run through by a flaming sword. The flames spread where the sword touched, charring everything in reach. The Corpse Soldier dropped to the ground a second later.
Vol released his hold on the other three Corpse Soldiers, and they charged the Flaming Corpse Soldier all at once.
It settled into its stance. Unlike the Skeleton Mage, it seemed comfortable with its new form. Or so Vol thought, until it swung prematurely – far too prematurely. His sword hit nothing but air. Yet flames sprang from it. A short-range projectile, messy and horizontal, as unstable as magic went, but against targets like the Corpse Soldiers, they were effective enough. The stream of fire hit the first of the monsters, coating it in flame.
The Flaming Corpse soldier used the confusion to its advantage to cut down the rest, one by one.
