Vol openly laughed at the man. "Not at all. But I've said the same to it – I've no place for the weak amongst my ranks. I've judged this to be a battle that you're at least capable of fighting to a draw. It will come at you with no holds barred."
The young Stone Hand officer blanched at that, and the two older men sighed and shot him a foul look, as if blaming him for the position that they were in.
"Go on now," Vol said.
"Fuckin' Stern," one of the officers muttered to the younger man.
"What? It wasn't my fault. That was going to be the deal anyway," Stern huffed.
"Yeah, right. You pissed him off. You're a frickin' idiot. Why did you surrender if you're trying to piss off your new Commander? Gods be good… At least let this monster eat you first," the older officer said.
Vol wandered out of the combat circle, and went to rejoin his comrades.
