When Koresh took a step back, Vol took a giant leap forward, closing the distance between the two of them far more rapidly than Koresh could hope to escape. Vol's warhammer came for him without warning, flicking towards his legs with a deceptive and snake-like quickness.
Koresh used all the might he had to dodge out of the way. He jumped back, and landed flat on his behind, before quickly clambering out of the dirt and back to his feet.
It was a clumsy dodge, and it gained him nothing but a short extension of his life. With that dodge, he gave up a step of advantage to Vol, and Vol took full use of it. The spiked head of the hammer met the old Commander as he stood up, leaving him with no other option, other than to block.
The sword went up, and the man put all his strength behind it. It was all he could do, even if it was a lost cause before it started. No one wanted to meet the strike of a hammer head-on, and especially not from a man like Vol.
