He didn't know, and Rast and Bert would not allow him the answer. Thanks to the Water Sprites that Vol had summoned, he'd at least managed to buy time away from the remaining soldiers – they were struggling rather heartily with the number, and it was taking everything that they had not to succumb to them – but all the same, the two Commanders managed to keep themselves free to battle.
Bert rushed in first, to take the weight of Vol's attention, whilst Rast once again circled around the back, knowing full well that this same strategy had worked several times before. Given that, there was no reason yet to fix it.
Vol caught Bert's axe on his shield, and turned it off to the side. It might have been his imagination, but that blow felt more powerful than it had before. In the next instant, before Vol could send a strike of his own back, Rast dove in, snapping at his heels, sticking to his blind spot, and forcing Vol to turn around completely in order to deal with him.
