"To leave our Commander alone," Vale said. "I could not. I promised the Princess I would not."
"Leave, woman," Vol said, his voice harder now, a trace of something that he didn't understand in it. Vale was in his loyalty System, so he found he had an easier time reaching her with an order than some of his other men. "I need no assistance. They will both fall by my hand."
"You see?" Silverfish said. "And if he can't kill em', what the hell can we do? It's the only way. From the start, the boy was after a situation like this. The only certain way to defeat a superior army is to cut the head off its leader. I'm reckoning he can do that."
With obvious reluctance, Vale finally relented, she allowed Silverfish to turn her horse around, back towards where their other allies were waiting.
