Vale stiffened, clearly having not expected to be tasked with doing something. She was never happier than when she was by Penelope's side. Being pulled away clearly did not please her. But, she was loyal enough that she didn't let that displeasure show on her face. "…Very well," she said.
The odd trio were sent off in the rain with a number of other men. They were allowed horses for the job. The beasts clomped their way down the hill, looking every bit as sick of the rain as the humans that rode them.
