The villagers were watching the confrontation with muted curiosity from their homes. No doubt they hoped that both raiding parties would destroy each other, such was their hatred for Vol's kind.
"WELL, VOL OF THE SEA SERPENTS, YOUR END SHALL BE MET BY CARM SIGURD'S SWORD! PREPARE YOURSELF!"
With the man standing in front of the shield wall on his horse, Vol couldn't help but think that he'd forgotten the purpose of the formation. It wouldn't do any good in protecting him if he stood in front of it. But, from the look on the man's face, he had no interest in being protected. The rage was evident there. The remaining mounted men shared his anger as they stood beside him. Vol supposed that he might have killed someone important to them. Not that he particularly cared.
