Though, as far as problems went, having so much money that it was difficult to count certainly wasn't a bad one. The distribution of their booty was once more based on rank. Vol took a smaller portion of 200 gold coins for himself, whilst he gave both of his Vice-Commanders 60 gold coins each, and then his Sergeants 30. What remained was distributed amongst the rest of the men, but as it turned out, everyone emerged with weighty pursues, few complained.
The only envy they felt was toward the leaders – now that a clear system was being put in place, where loot was divided based on rank, they had even more reason to wish to secure such a promotion themselves.
For now, though, the men were contended, both Nolan's old men and Vol's men alike. A more successful raid it would be hard to hope for – this was the dream. For the likes of the smallest raider to be receiving several golds for his troubles was unheard of.
