The soldiers of Vol were in particularly fine spirits then. They could finally see signs of a true red-light district – as any proper trading town ought to have – and they were eagerly entertaining more than a few thoughts about spending several nights there. After all, it had been a good while for many of them since they'd last spent time with a woman. Vol had forbidden the use of the slaves for such purposes, finding it distasteful, and they'd been wise enough not to push him on the matter.
Before that, though, they needed coin, and for the coin, they needed to get rid of the slaves that they had, and turn them into something far easier to use.
"It's likely off to the left, I would think," Harland said, seeing Vol pause at a crossroads. "They tend to keep the likes of slave markets as far away from the higher-class districts as possible, and if my eyesight isn't failing me, that seems like particularly fine territory up ahead."
