It was 'if' he'd win, it was 'how'. The longer he took to defeat them, the more punishment his already ailing men would take. And so, with Swallow's dagger so close to his exposed side, he took a risk that he otherwise might not have.
Gazz was open for a perfect counterstrike. He couldn't escape an axe thrown his way. Ordinarily, Vol was against performing the same strike twice in a row, because it was so easy to read, but here, there didn't seem to be any other option.
Despite the danger, he twisted his face, and allowed his greed to take over. His arm rocked at the greatest speed he could give it, sending the throwing axe towards the side of Gazz's face, at about the only opening his helmet afforded him.
