"That is the raiding way," Harland said, as though it were obvious. "You are strong, so you take. That is your right, is it not? The strongest man should have the most beautiful of women – does that not match the will of the Gods?"
Somehow, it was worse that Harland had so easily accepted it. Vol had wanted him to challenge the matter, to point out that he'd been wrong. Harland, instead, merely assumed that he'd done it with the intention of stealing. That was at least something a raider could make sense of. What then if he knew the reason that he'd done it? Merely to satiate a monstrous part of himself that the System had forced him to develop, what then?
"I suppose," Vol murmured, dismissing the topic. "She was meant to be a gift for an Earl, it seems. I've brought on a fair bit of trouble in taking her. Apologies."
