"As irritating in death as in life," Vol cursed, realizing that he would have to sweep the chest open with his axe. He forced it onto a nearby rock and prepared to strike.
"Wind's telling me to check the back of his boot," Northy shouted over. He'd been watching the commotion. As everyone worked, Northy was tearing into a stale piece of bread with bloodied hands. No one could dare tell him to stand up, even as he washed it down with ale – Northy had fought well, after all. The blood on his clothes attested to that fact.
Vol paused mid-swing, shooting the man a questioning look.
