Chapter 140 - Unexpected Dinner Date

In her current state of mind, the thought of going out for dinner, especially with him, held no appeal whatsoever. The weight of her emotions weighed her down, rendering her unable to summon the energy to deal with it.

"What? No time?" Cheng Zixiao chuckled, a hint of playful banter in his tone. "Are you thinking of backing out on our deal?"

With just a few words, Georgia found herself at a loss for words. After all, she had indeed promised Cheng Zixiao a meal owed to him. Besides, there was nothing pressing keeping her at home, so she decided to go through with it.

"Well, send me the address," she conceded.

"Okay, it's a date."

A short while later, Georgia's phone vibrated, and she received a text message. But then a thought struck her, and she asked, "By the way, how did you get my phone number?"

Cheng Zixiao chuckled with unabashed confidence, "When I want to know something, there's nothing I can't find out."

Georgia sighed helplessly. "Alright."

If he could uncover the intricacies of her relationship with Jack, obtaining her phone number was hardly a feat.

Georgia was about to end the call when Cheng Zixiao's voice chimed in, "Oh, and remember to dress formally tonight!"

Dress formally? It wasn't like they were going on a date. What could be the reason for such attire?

Setting her phone aside, Georgia couldn't help but ponder Cheng Zixiao's instructions.

As the evening approached, Georgia hastily donned a formal outfit and exchanged a few words with Aunt Rong before heading out.

Upon arriving at their destination via taxi, she gazed out the window and saw the name of the hotel. It was then that she understood Cheng Zixiao's request for formal attire.

Biqing Yuan, the premier state banquet restaurant in the Jiang state, was renowned for its extravagant dining experience. It was a place most ordinary people couldn't afford to dine in.

Georgia had only heard of Biqing Yuan's prestigious reputation but had never dined there herself. To her surprise, Cheng Zixiao had chosen this establishment for their meal.

As she stepped out of the cab, she couldn't help but marvel at the grandeur of the hotel. Soon enough, she spotted Cheng Zixiao, dressed in a dark blue suit, making his way toward her.

Cheng Zixiao's eyes zeroed in on Georgia's attire as he approached.

Georgia explained, "I dressed casually. It's just a meal."

Cheng Zixiao chuckled, his amusement evident. After a brief pause, he couldn't contain his laughter.

Clearly, his expectations for the women he pursued were quite different.

"Alright." Cheng Zixiao smiled before proceeding to untie his necktie, remove his coat, and unbutton his shirt.

Georgia was taken aback. "What are you doing?"

Why was he undressing in public?

With two buttons of his shirt collar undone and his sleeves rolled up, Cheng Zixiao winked at her, saying, "Joining you, of course!"

With that declaration, he reached for Georgia's arm and led her towards the entrance.

Georgia was bewildered, unable to comprehend the workings of this man's mind.

Upon reaching the restaurant on the second floor, they were escorted to a table by the window, and menus were placed before them.

After they placed their orders, Georgia picked up her tea and took a sip. When she looked up, she found Cheng Zixiao sitting across from her, his gaze intently fixed upon her.

His direct stare made Georgia feel her cheeks flush with warmth. "Why are you staring at me like that?"

Cheng Zixiao shook his head with an exaggerated sigh. "Such a pity."

Pity? Georgia couldn't fathom what he meant.
