Chapter 110 - A Hospital Encounter

Jack's eyelids gracefully fluttered upward, revealing an enigmatic gaze that concealed a well of emotions beneath its surface. His voice, soft and measured, broke the silence, bearing an air of indifference that hinted at a deeper complexity. "It's OK," he murmured, his words laden with layers of meaning that hung in the air, inviting interpretation.

Georgia, though initially apprehensive, found herself compelled to probe further, her curiosity and nerves getting the better of her. She inquired tentatively, "Do you have a preference for boys or girls?"

As the words slipped from her lips, an immediate sense of regret washed over her. The question she had posed was shrouded in ambiguity, carrying implications that she hadn't intended. It felt as though she had inadvertently unveiled a secret desire, exposing herself in the process.

Yu Gu North, his movements fluid and graceful, turned his gaze towards her. His eyes, slightly lifted, bore into her with an intensity that sent a shiver down her spine. His response was cryptic, delivered with an enigmatic smile, "All can."

A rosy blush crept up Georgia's cheeks, and she nodded, her mind spinning with confusion. Recognizing the precarious territory she had ventured into, she wisely chose not to press further, letting the conversation fade away into the background.

The backdrop of their unfolding narrative was a hospital—a place where moments of vulnerability often converged with the complexities of life. Here, Yu Gubei took charge, registering Georgia and offering his unwavering companionship throughout a battery of examinations. Time seemed to slip away unnoticed, and more than two hours melted into the ether.

As they waited for the examination results, Georgia's throat grew increasingly parched. Her eyes darted around, searching for a source of refreshment to quench her thirst.

Sensing her restlessness, Jack, who held several lists in his hands, questioned her with a voice that conveyed concern beneath its stoic exterior. "Is something amiss?"

Georgia, not one to disguise her feelings, replied honestly, "I'm quite thirsty..."

Without uttering a word, Jack gently pressed his hand onto her shoulder, wordlessly instructing her to remain seated. "Wait here for me," he said softly, "I'll fetch some hot water for you."

Grateful for his consideration, Georgia nodded, her gaze lingering on him as he strode away. Her thoughts swirled with emotions, gratitude, and a growing sense of warmth.

Beside her, a middle-aged woman couldn't help but be intrigued by the situation. She leaned closer to Georgia and whispered, "Is that your boyfriend?"

A soft, affectionate smile tugged at Georgia's lips as she responded in hushed tones, "No, he's my husband."

The middle-aged woman's eyes widened in surprise and admiration. "Your husband! He's so attentive and caring, not to mention tall and handsome. A true gentleman. Quite the opposite of my husband, who wouldn't even accompany me to the hospital."

Georgia's eyes followed Jack's retreating figure, and a swell of warmth filled her heart. She had often felt unloved and alone before, aside from her parents. Now, there was a new presence in her life, and the love she received from him filled her with happiness.

Moments later, Georgia's phone rang unexpectedly. Retrieving it from her bag, she noticed that it was her mother, Ms. Liu, calling.

"Hello? Mom? What's going on?" Georgia's voice conveyed both surprise and concern.

Ms. Liu's voice on the other end sounded equally surprised but tinged with worry. "Oh, dear, I just wanted to check up on you. It's been a few days since we last spoke."

Georgia couldn't help but think of the recent conversation with her mother regarding her impending wedding plans.

Ms. Liu continued, her tone growing more insistent, "Have you discussed the wedding date with Xiaoyu? When do you plan to tie the knot?"

Taking a deep breath, Georgia's voice turned soft as she replied, "Mom, Xiaoyu has been incredibly busy with work. It seems the wedding might have to be postponed..."

Ms. Liu's agitation was palpable as she responded, "No matter how busy he is, he can't neglect such an important matter! You, my dear, I know you're too lenient with him!"

Listening to her mother's reproach, Georgia furrowed her brows, feeling a mix of emotions. "Mom, it's not urgent. I'm at the hospital right now, so let's not discuss it for the time being."

However, as she was about to hang up, Ms. Liu's voice came through again, her concern evident. "Wait a minute! Why are you at the hospital? Are you not feeling well?"

Georgia hesitated for a moment, grappling with how to respond to her mother's probing questions. Her thoughts swirled as she considered her next words, knowing that this conversation might shape the future in ways she couldn't foresee.
