CHAOS POV
I wait until everyone has fallen asleep before slipping out of the house. I hated what I was doing to my brothers, to Scarlett. Father had lifted the block he'd put on her memories, which explained why she hadn't known who I was, and now that she does, I don't think she can ever forgive me.
I find Father in his study. I don't know how Shadow knew where she was, but I had to do what I had to do, I had to buy myself time.
He looks up when I walk in, a scowl on his face. "Let them come. I'm not moving the bitch again." He growls, already knowing why I'm here. I roll my eyes, we both know he's going to.
"I have a warehouse off campus, there's a secret room, that even my brothers don't know about, take her there." The words are out of my mouth before I can fully think them through. I tell him how to access the warehouse and secret room before disappearing back into the shadows, I need to make it back before my brothers wake up and notice I'm missing. I just hope when everything comes to light, they understand I'm only doing what's best for everyone.
I redirect my steps, I need to see her before I leave, just once. I quickly find her room, Father thought maybe she would cooperate better in familiar surroundings. She doesn't move when I walk in, her chest rising and falling slowly. "Scarlett" I whisper her name, her leg twitches but she makes no other move. She hadn't spoken to me in a month, not since Father removed the memory block. "Scar" I try again moving further into the room. She rolls onto her side, her back facing me and I let out a sigh.
"I'm sorry for everything, I had to, please understand." I'm almost begging her now, I need her to understand, "he's moving you again tonight." I tell her, watching for and reaction, when she gives none I sigh and turn on my heel, leaving her.
Shadows on the couch when I get back, he glances up when I walk in, a question on the top of his tongue.
"I was at the warehouse." I shrug moving to the fridge and grabbing a beer. He nods, lost in his own head.
"She's my Mate." Comes Shadow's broken whisper. The words making my blood run cold and I choke on the swig of beer I had just taken. What the fuck did he just say? Mate? What the fuck?
I stare at him, unable to form words. He looks so broken, he's lost a lot of weight. I frown truly taking my brother in for the first time in two months. His once vibrant purple hair, now hung dull and limp around his face, his green eyes dull with pain and sorrow. He had lost so much weight, his clothes hung off his now almost skeleton frame.
"Shadow," I begin unsure what to say, knowing the was nothing I could say. He shakes his head at me, tears shining in his eyes. Fuck! He hadn't even let us cry the first time we lost Scarlett.
"Shadow, I can't go on without her, she the air I breathe, the one thing keeping me going, I need her back." His eyes are haunted, his voice hollow as he turns to look at me, tears streaming down his face. "You won't find me, not like you found Arrow." My gut clenches, what was he saying?
"It'll be too late, I'll make sure of it." He shoves off the couch, slamming his bedroom door behind him.
I lean back against the couch, closing my eyes. All I could do now, was hope we all made it out of this alive.
We're back in our dorm room the next night, our search of Alix's house had turned up empty, as I knew it would. Shadow insisted the whole way home that she had been there recently, I was going to have to be more careful, I couldn't have him smelling her on me.
