Chapter 11 - Chapter 10.

Seraphina's POV

"How are things going?"

"Fine."

"Really nothing of importance to note." Cora pushed on.

"No nothing important has happened. What about you?"

"Nothing really just trying to adjust to living with a guy I don't know. Don't get me started on the language barrier. No one here but Victor speaks English. Have you tried to explain to a maid that you are lost and need to use the bathroom but she only speaks Russian and you know not a single word in Russian? Trust me it's hard." I can't help but laugh.

"No. I can't say I have had to deal with that. Nicholas has hardly any staff inside the house. Besides, remember my nanny? She was the one that forced me to learn different languages. Russian should be easy to pick up if you just try."

"Oh look at me I'm Seraphina and I'm a nerd. Let me go and read and learn things for fun." She mocks me over the phone.

"Whatever Cora, at least I can talk to people."

"Well sorry, it wasn't in my life plan to move continents and be cut off from my whole family."

We both go silent. Dad told us when we graduated that we would be arranged to marry. But he never told us or prepared us that we would end up having to move and be separated.

"Hey, it's not all bad. I mean come on did you see the library." She laughs at me. I face timed Cora a few days ago showing off the elaborate library Nicholas has and she showed me the library Victor has.

Must be a mafia thing to have a home library.

We talk for close to an hour. We only stopped when Cora was called away by a young lady. Me and Alice talked a few days ago, Lydia and I haven't had time as she's always been busy.

I walk downstairs bored out of my mind. I want to start school but it hasn't started yet, Nicholas won't let me get a job until I'm done with school. This house is boring. No maids to talk to. Nicholas is off doing work. I have no friends. No family.

Nothing.

Walking around this stupid house I try to look for something to do. I walk around and eventually land in the kitchen. Snacks are always a good way to get rid of boredom, right?

Searching through the cabinet looking for food I find nothing. Moving everything out of the way I find a box of brownie mix. We have all the ingredients. Guess I'm making brownies.

While pouring the batter into a pan one of Nicholas's friends comes in. I think it was Ian.

He sits down at the counter as I put the pan into the oven. I set a timer and turn my focus to the dishes.

"Seraphina right." I look over at him. His voice sounds hoarse like he doesn't really use it.

"Yeah. Ian right?" I smirk as I pour the soap into the bowl.

"Yeah." I start scrubbing at the bowl as he sits there watching me.

"Ian, do you have any siblings?"

"No."

"I have four. 3 sisters and a brother."

I rinse off the dishes and set them aside. I turn back towards him, trying to think of something to say but nothing comes to mind.

"Nicholas wanted me to tell you he went out and will be back after dinner, so don't wait up." I nod as he gets up and leaves.

Grabbing a rag I start drying the dishes off and putting them away. My timer goes off. I stick a toothpick in the center and it comes out clean. I take the pan and set it on top of the stove and turn the oven off.

I walk away and let the pan cool and head back up to the room. I hang out on my phone for a bit before deciding to make dinner for myself.

Going through the cabinets again I check for food to make. Nicholas usually went grocery shopping once a month. I mean he eats like one meal at home and lived alone. Finding noodles, and a jar of sauce I go for a very basic spaghetti.

Finishing up my portion of dinner I put the rest away for Nicholas if he gets hungry and wash the dishes. I leave them out to dry and put them away in the morning. I make my way back upstairs to my room to get ready.

I head to the closet to get my pajamas. With my new clothes, my side of the closet is actually full. I pick out a matching set of blush pink, satin pajamas. I go to the bathroom with my clothes and turn on the shower.

I strip out of my clothes and set a towel on the counter. I open the fogged-up shower door and climb in. I let the warm water wash over me.

I get to work and massage shampoo into my scalp. I rinse it out and put conditioner on the ends. I use a claw clip and put my hair up. Using my loofah I scrub my body with pomegranate body wash.

I rinse off and stand in the water for a minute. I close my eyes and take the clip out and manage to get the clip back in its spot. I rinse out my hair and continue to massage my scalp as well loving the feeling of being clean.

I turn off the shower when I start to yawn and squeeze the excess water out of my hair. I reach for my towel and dry my body off.

I step out with the towel loosely wrapped around my body. Grabbing the clothes I put on the tank top and shorts. I brush my teeth and wash my face completing my night. I walk over to my bed and get under the comforter.

I plug in my phone and lay my head on the pillow. I snuggle into the pillow trying to get comfortable.

It might sound crazy but I've gotten used to sleeping next to Nicholas. Without him here it's weird to fall asleep.

Breathing out deeply I manage to get comfortable and drift off eventually.
