The Cosmic Entity from the Second Universe sent the Multicolored Phoenix, whose strength was ultimately too formidable. William, armed with just an ordinary Chef's Knife, attempting to slay it was indeed a bit over the top.
The quality of items from the Thirteenth Universe was not particularly high to begin with. The Chef's Knife William had previously used was the kind you could buy in a supermarket for two to three dollars.
He hadn't used his full strength, and to the Multicolored Phoenix, that strike was utterly laughable!
