After sampling the bread briefly, William asked Bella, "Are you here to invite me to your friend's wedding?"
Hearing William's question, Bella slowly raised her head, cautiously glanced at Alice, then set down her knife and smiled, "I did have that idea, but let's not."
William could hear how Alice had been speaking with Bella outside. Without looking at Alice, he said, "It's fine, I can go."
"Um..." Bella sneakily glanced at Alice again, only to see Alice behaving like a child who had done something wrong, not daring to lift her head and just focusing on her food, not saying a word.
This hardly seemed like a normal couple's relationship.
Bella suddenly felt that things were becoming interesting again.
Alice's behavior earlier was akin to a small dog guarding its food, even seemingly declaring her sovereignty.
But it was clear that William had not acknowledged her as his "girlfriend."
