Upon noticing Evelyn's gaze, Alice, with a silly grin, addressed her, "Evelyn... No, no, no! I should call you Miss Taylor now, right? You're a celebrity now."
Evelyn responded with a natural smile, "Alice, you make it sound so formal! What celebrity? If possible, I'd still be your employee."
Alice took Evelyn's words as a joke and playfully retorted, "If you want to come back to our bookstore, you're more than welcome. But given your current status..."
Evelyn interrupted her with a chuckle, "If I'm welcome, then I'll just come to work as usual tomorrow. Same salary, how about it?"
Stunned, Alice didn't know how to respond. She glanced at William, hoping he'd give her a hint.
But William turned his face away, providing no cues at all.
