Chapter 17 - Rebirth

I had a troubled life.

When I was about six or seven years old, my dad had been reported dead.

His name? . . . . . Sam. . . . Sam Thompson.

He was an African American who grew up as an intellectual genius. I inherited most of his personality traits. . . I miss him, he always was the wacky, funny, and optimistic one of the family. Though it wasn't hard to tell that deep down he had plenty of negative and intrusive thoughts that stabbed his partially filled heart.

He was a scientist for the U.S Military, as he often focused on finding new technological ways to help our military become less. . ."hostile". His job paid well, but he wasn't home as much as he liked. . . But when he was, he made sure to share his love to everyone.

When he was reported dead mom . . . didn't take it too well.

. . .?

My mother? . . . She . . . was a bit. . . .troubled in her mind. . .

At first she wasn't all that bad until work started to pile up.

The more work piled up, the longer she stayed, the longer she stayed the more tired she became, the more tired she became the less she got done over time. It was a constant cycle of exhaustion and pushing past your body's limits.

. . . Guess her mind couldn't keep up with her work, and our school life.

At some point she just snapped, and couldn't handle it anymore. She started neglecting us entirely to focus on keeping the lights on, then she started leaving for months on end without any food to eat, before we were forced to get jobs and provide mostly everything for ourselves.

. . . She wasn't as evil as I made her out to be. I later found out the real reason she had a hard time when she was alive.

"Thats great Siren. We've learned a lot about your character, but sadly its time for everyone to leave"

Siren looked at the woman in confusion, as the rest of the group scattered off to lunch in a loud bunch.

"Ms. Carol! Couldn't we have talked a little longer!" Siren begged as he stood up shocked.

Ms. Carol was a middle aged woman with light purple hair. She is also the leader of the group therapist in the psychology department.

"Sorry Si. Rules are rules for a reason. You'll just have to wait next week for your turn." She said with a tired look in her eyes.

Siren frowned with disappointment as he angrily walked out of the room.

The facility allowed most patients to walk unsupervised as long as they made it to their scheduled destination on time.

He always grew up with the idea that psych wards are this horrible place where doctors torture you until you break, but that isn't the case. The staff here is actually quite nice, and they take deep care for the development of your mental state. Of course not all patients are willing to be healed.

Some even just wanted to cause chaos for the sake of it. Yet they still manage to balance it out.

Siren jumped to the loud banging noise coming from a door that swung open. Suddenly two large men came swinging out of it, as they slammed into the wall. Siren took a step back with caution as multiple footsteps grew closer. Suddenly two kids appeared out of the door.

The first one was a child that looked no less than a few months old. The second one was a young child with black hair and blue eyes, her age however could've been within 5-6 but one thing was clear.

The older one was dangerous. Without any powers to defend himself, Siren would have to rely on his martial artists to retaliate if necessary.

But, much to Siren's surprise the older girl completely ignored him as she walked over toward the unconscious men.

With such ease, the child lifted one of the men's head upward as she suddenly bit his neck.

You could hear the noise of her sucking the blood from his veins as some of it squirted and leaked out of the sides.

The kids were real vampires. Siren suddenly felt a small tug on his pants as he looked down. The younger vampire was staring right at Siren with her finger still in her mouth.

Out of confusion, Siren waved at the young child only to be met with an interesting response.

"BaBA DA!" The baby wailed as she stuck out her hands toward Siren.

A strange sense of nostalgia washed over Siren's eyes as he lifted the baby up into the air.

The radiance of the young child's laughter blinded Siren as a tear dropped his eyes.

He had never met the young girl in his life, yet he felt as if he was waiting an eternity for her to shine brightly.

Suddenly he felt a sharp tap on his hip as he looked over to see the other sibling hold her unnaturally sharp nail aimed straight toward his liver.

"Put. Her. Down. Slowly" The child muttered.

Siren smirked as he put the child down in front of the older sibling.

The child frowned at Siren as she continued to tug on his leg.

"So, I assume that's your sister?" He asked while kneeling down on the baby's level. The older sister nodded while gently rubbing the babies head,

"I'm Vail, and this little bundle of joy is Rose. We are orphans trying to gain some therapy after some particular issues. She said while keeping her eyes on Rose,

Siren let out a faint chuckle as he patted Rose on the head, and smiled.

"Do whatever you have to in order to keep your sister safe. And if you can't handle it."

Call big bro to handle it.
