Chapter 1 - Crashed

Annie Hollow, a woman of exquisite beauty and grace, possessed an unwavering determination to achieve greatness.

Being the daughter of a millionaire, she had been bestowed with opportunities that most could only dream of. However, her journey towards success was not without its share of challenges and complexities.

Being the owner of a flourishing fashion brand, understood the importance of maintaining a delicate equilibrium between her business endeavors and her personal life.

With her towering stature and refined demeanor, she exuded an air of sophistication that commanded respect from those around her.

Yet, beneath her seemingly perfect exterior, Annie's life was far from flawless.

In the world of modern dating, Annie ventured into various platforms such as Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and Cupid, in search of a genuine connection.

Despite the glamorous facade she portrayed to the world, Annie knew all too well that the path to finding love was not always smooth or effortless.

For the tenth time, she knew deep down that he, Lan? wasn't the one.

Sitting across from him at the elegant restaurant table, strategically placed by a large window, she couldn't help but question the purpose of wearing her favorite red dress. It seemed as though all her efforts had been in vain.

As he spoke, she found herself lost in her own thoughts. A deafening silence enveloped her mind, drowning out the sounds of the bustling restaurant. In that moment, she felt a peculiar sense of detachment from the world around her.

The evening had started with such promise. They had met through mutual friends and had instantly hit it off. He was charming, confident, and possessed all the qualities one would desire in a partner. But as the night progressed, doubts had started to creep into her mind.

She pondered the nature of happiness and the elusiveness of true love.

Was it possible to find that one person who would complete her? Or was it all just a whimsical notion perpetuated by fairy tales and Hollywood movies?

Her mind wandered to the countless wishes she had made over the years.

Wishes upon shooting stars, birthday candles, and every other opportunity that presented itself.

Each wish was laced with the hope of finding her soulmate, the one who would make her heart skip a beat.

But now, sitting here in this elegant restaurant, surrounded by laughter and clinking glasses, she couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment.

The reality of her wishes seemed far removed from the fantasy she had envisioned.

She looked across the table at him, his words fading into the background.

The spark she had initially felt had dimmed, leaving her with an overwhelming sense of emptiness.

The red dress that once symbolized hope and allure now felt like a facade, masking the truth she was beginning to accept.

Her thoughts drifted to the countless conversations she had had with her friends and family.

They had all imparted their wisdom about love and relationships, urging her to be patient and wait for the right person to come along. But how long was she expected to wait? How many more unsatisfying encounters would she have to endure?

Lost in her contemplation, she realized that she held the power to shape her own destiny.

Wishes alone couldn't bring her happiness; it was her actions that would define her journey.

She deserved more than settling for someone who didn't ignite her soul.

With a newfound determination, she made a silent promise to herself - to let go of the notion of finding "the one" and instead focus on finding her own happiness.

No longer would she seek validation from others or rely on wishes to guide her path. It was time to take control of her own destiny.

As she reached this realization, a weight lifted off her shoulders. The disappointment she had felt slowly transformed into a sense of liberation.

In that moment, she knew that she was capable of creating her own happiness, regardless of who was sitting across from her at the restaurant table.

With a deep breath, she made her decision. Summoning all her courage, she looked into his eyes and gently spoke the words that would change the course of both their lives forever.

"I'm sorry, but this isn't working for me. I wish you all the best."

And with that, she stood up, leaving behind the expectations and doubts that had plagued her for far too long.

As she walked away, she couldn't help but feel a glimmer of excitement for the possibilities that lay ahead.

She approached her vehicle and gracefully settled into the driver's seat.

Taking a moment to collect herself, she closed her eyes, attempting to dispel the lingering disappointment that had enveloped her.

Resolute and determined, she reopened her eyes and ignited the engine, commencing her journey.

The melodious strains of "Hotel California" resonated through the car's speakers, providing a soothing ambiance as she navigated the open road.

Surprisingly devoid of fellow travelers, the thoroughfare seemed to have been forsaken, as if everyone had chosen to remain in the comfort of their own homes.

This rare solitude granted her a sense of tranquility and allowed her thoughts to wander freely.

She extended her right hand into the gift bag resting on the front passenger's seat, indicating that she had recently engaged in a bout of shopping.

Her hand, adorned with delicate jewelry, gracefully plucked a treasure from the bag, further emphasizing her refined taste and attention to detail.

The gift bag, a treasure trove of indulgence, represented more than just material possessions. It served as a testament to her ability to navigate the world of luxury and sophistication with ease.

Her selection of items reflected a profound understanding of her owyle and a commitment to embracing the finer things in life.

As she attempted to retrieve a bottle of Rosay, her attention was abruptly diverted by the erratic movement of the steering wheel.

She was about to run a man over on the walkway. She couldn't have that on her conscience thus causing her to do one brave thing that could cause her all or nothing.

In a desperate bid to rectify the potentially dire situation that appeared to be unfolding before her, she struggled to react swiftly.

The tyres screamed for help as the car spun twice before losing its way to crash into a building on the other side of the road.

The melodic tune gradually decelerated as her motionless brown eyes fixated on the billowing smoke emanating from the fortified shelter.

Her respiration gradually subsided, and her countenance, marred by bloodstains, remained immobile until… the song's auditory presence faded away, lost to her senses.
