What could a Velur be doing here, so far from its natural habitat? I was stunned; nothing about this mission had seemed like an ambush from the start. There was no doubt the enemies knew of our arrival, and now they were determined to do whatever it took to thwart our mission.
I heard the screams of my Vedans as the creature tore into them, overpowering them instantly. What should I do? I couldn't kill the Velur because then, what would protect the Garden of Hope? Suddenly, fire erupted from Reagan's hand, blazing hot. I knew he intended to burn down the tree, but I immediately stopped him, saying, "Don't. We cannot kill the Velur."
