Chapter 32 - Chapter 4: The Everlasting kNight: The Moon That Forever Shines Down. Part 3

Part 3

It was quiet.

A little too quiet.

(Oh god, what the hell am I doing?)

That was his thought.

Haruko was slowly walking across the red bridge, looking for anything out of the ordinary.

At the moment, he was tasked with finding the seals to this barrier spell that surrounded the red steel bridge he was on.

(This is so boring)

So far, he has found five.

A slight breeze began to pick up.

(I manage to find most of the seals, but I am no closer to destroying this damn thing)

Haruko turned his head back to see the head doctor kneeling over the women on the ground.

It's been a long night.

Haruko's eyes drifted away from the pair and down to the maroon-colored spear laying on the ground.

(Wait)

The spear.

(Haruko listen close; the seals are not important, but what is important is the anchoring point. It is the main part of the spell that keeps it together)

Haruko looked at the spear as Alexis words echoed in his head.

Haruko began to slowly walk to the spear.

(If the seal for the barrier spell is not the anchoring point, then...)

Haruko picked up the spear from the ground.

(Then the spear should be it)

He examined the object in his hands.

As he held the object in his hands, several thoughts came to his mind.

1). Destroy it.

2). Destroy It.

3). DESTROY IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Haruko gripped the spear with both hands in an attempt to bend the object in half.

Nothing.

It didn't budge.

"Damnit!" Haruko shouted out as he stopped trying to bend the spear.

He looked at the object.

(How in the hell am I supposed to destroy this thing?)

Haruko exhaled.

He was getting nowhere; he needed something harder to break the spear.

As he held the object, he walked over to the metal railing of the bridge. He stopped a few inches from the railing.

He slowly slid his hand across.

(Yeah, this should do it)

Once again, he gripped the spear with both hands and raised it over his head.

With all his might and a loud yell, he brought the spear down on the metal railing.

There was a loud klang as the spear bounced off the metal railing, sending the teen back several steps.

He stared at the spear.

Nothing, not even a crack.

(What the hell was that? It didn't even break)

Haruko walked up to the metal bridge railing again, and as he stood there, he could feel a bead of sweat crawl down the back of his neck.

(Again)

He swung the spear down onto the metal railing. There was a faint ringing sound as the spear bounced off the railing.

Suddenly, a gust of wind hit Haruko, pushing him back and sending his feet sliding across the ground.

Silence.

(Again)

Haruko ran to the metal railing again and thrust the spear forward, only to be met with the same result again.

The wind knocked him back to the floor.

He started breathing heavily as he lay on the ground, looking up at the night sky of NEO New York City.

Nothing.

The stars.

The moon.

The sky.

Haruko closed his eyes.

Silence.

(If you don't mind me asking, how exactly did you get into this city?)

(Through the sky)

The girl.

Aoi.

Haruko's fingers slowly gripped the spear in his right hand.

He opened his eyes, his bright blue eyes ready to face the world.

"Alrighty then"

He grunted as he picked himself up off the floor.

He began moving towards the railing, spear in hand, his feet shuffling across the ground.

There was silence as he stood in front of the railing.

Haruko inhaled loudly.

Silence.

He gripped the spear tightly in his right hand.

(AGAIN!!!!!)

Haruko let out a loud yell.

He raised the spear overhead and brought it down on the railing.

The spear bounced off the railing, releasing a gust of wind and pushing the teen back.

(No, not here. I can't fall here)

Haruko ran back toward the railing.

The teen kept hitting the railing with the spear. With each hit, an image of the girl he tried to save broke out in his head.

"Come on, break, you stupid piece of shit"

He started to get angry, letting out a barrage of loud yells as he kept hitting the metal railing again and again.

Antonio turned his head at the sound of the teen yelling with a somber look on his face.

Unbeknownst to the teen, as he kept wailing on the metal railing, a burning sensation broke out in his chest.

The teen kept swinging away.

Small blue and white orbs began emerging from his body, with the teen not aware of any of them.

(Come on)

That burning sensation had spread out through his body as if something had awakened inside of him.

And still he kept hitting the metal railing.

Antonio watched on with his forearm in front of his face as shockwaves of wind broke out on the bridge.

(Just a little bit more, Mr. Matsumoto. You're almost there.)

Haruko's blue eyes began to glow.

As he was yelling and hitting the metal railing, a faint white and blue vein-like pattern appeared on his skin, flickering on and off.

Aoi.

His thoughts were on the girl.

"There is a girl these bastards made an enemy of sitting in a hospital room who I can't help because of this damn spear" Haruko shouted out.

Small blue electrical sparks began emerging from his hands.

(Break)

Hit.

The air around Haruko began to pick up.

(Break)

The sound of his yells became distorted.

Every time the vein-like pattern appeared on his skin, small flashes of electricity began surrounding his body.

The teen was unaware of what was happening around him; all that mattered to him at the moment was breaking the spear before him.

Hit.

As he raised the spear over his head with both hands, a single spark of electricity scattered about above him into the air.

Then.

As his eyes widen, a feeling comes to him that he cannot explain in words.

But everything was telling him.

(DESTROY THE DAMN SPEAR!!)

With a loud, distorted yell, Haruko brought the spear down, letting it hit the metal railing and releasing electrical sparks in the area.

There was a loud sound as the spear broke into several small pieces, releasing a huge shock wave and pushing Haruko off his feet.

Antonio quickly moved to cover the woman lying on the ground as a huge shockwave of wind and smoke began to converge upon him.

He let out a grunt as the shockwave hit him for a few seconds.

As he kept his head down, he noticed that the surrounding area began to crack and break apart.

(Is the barrier spell destroyed?)

There was a glass-breaking sound that rang out in the area.

Then everything died down.

Antonio slowly raised his head and began looking around.

There was smoke everywhere.

He dusted himself off and stood up.

There was no sign of Haruko Matsumoto anywhere.

He began walking through the smoke to where he last saw him. The sound of his dress shoes broke the silence.

He noticed that static electricity was traveling across the steel frame of the bridge.

"MR. MATSUMOTO" Antonio shouted out, waiting for a reply, but nothing

The smoke began to die down.

(No reply; it was a huge shockwave)

He stopped walking.

(Don't tell me....)

Antonio ran to the metal railing and looked down into the water.

(Did he get blasted off the bridge?)

His eyes darted across the water, scanning it, but still nothing.

"MR. MATSUMOTO" He shouted down to the water below"

Nothing.

"You don't have to yell; I heard you the first time" A faintly distorted voice broke out.

It was Haruko's voice.

Antonio turned around and began walking to the sound of his voice.

Through the dying smoke, he saw Haruko on his hands and knees, trying to keep himself up. Haruko let out several coughs as Antonio approached him.

Static electricity was surrounding the teenager's body.

Antonio could see that light blue and white vein-like marking on his skin flickering on and off before fading out completely.

"Mr. Matsumoto, are you alright?"

"I'm not sure I….feel weird"

Antonio looked at the teen.

With those markings, there was no doubt about what it was. That was…)

His thoughts were interrupted as Haruko fell face-first into the hard ground, startling him.

"MR. MATSTUMOTO, MR. MATSU..."

Haruko felt exhausted as he laid on the floor.

He could hear the head doctor's voice begin to drown out as everything became quiet.

Exhausted.

Suddenly, everything started to go black as he began to lose consciousness.

In that blackness, he heard a voice.

"Just a little bit more, and you would have..."

It was a soft female child's voice.

Haruko closed his eyes.
