Chapter 6 - Casiano's Indifference

Alla clutching at her heart that seemed ready to cease beating from the pain, managed to make her way back to her desk. She had to resign, and quickly at that. She could not bear to witness their public displays of affection in her dwindling days. She feared her inability to withstand the sight, feared the urge to confront Casiano and demand an explanation for his cruelty.

After drafting her resignation letter, she sought approval from Karly, the head of the CEO's office. Karly, who didn't particularly favor Alla, offered a cursory attempt to dissuade her before granting approval. The resignation process would take a month, and Alla, unable to leave immediately, opted to take a half-month's annual leave.

Having accumulated fifteen days of annual leave over her five years at Reed Corporation, it seemed reasonable to utilize them before her departure. Seeing her urgency, Karly couldn't help but roll her eyes, "I can approve your leave, but make sure you come back to hand over your tasks." Alla responded with a terse 'okay' and left Reed Corporation immediately.

Upon her hurried exit, she nearly collided with Billie Roman, the notorious CEO of Roman Corporation. Known for his sadistic treatment of women, his presence terrified Alla, who turned to flee. However, Billie was quick to catch her, pulling her into his embrace, "Where are you rushing off to?"

Leaning in, he deliberately breathed into her ear. His warm breath against her skin sent chills down her spine. She tried to push him away, but he held her waist tightly. "You smell so good..."

After inhaling the scent of her hair, he attempted to touch her chest. Alla immediately held his hand, her voice cold, "Mr. Roman, please behave yourself." Nibbling on her earlobe, Billie retorted, "What does 'behave' mean?"

Billie's voice wasn't unpleasant, but his words invoked a sense of revulsion in Alla. She turned her head, her eyes reflecting her disgust. Yet, Billie seemed unaffected. The more a woman resisted him, the more he desired to conquer her. It gave him an intense thrill.

Billie lifted her chin with one hand, his fingers tracing her cheek. Alla swatted his hand away, her voice icy, "Mr. Roman, I don't know you well. Please show some respect."

Billie first noticed Alla a month ago when she was delivering documents to Roman Corporation. Since then, he often visited her under the pretext of discussing business, either making physical advances or engaging in verbal harassment. Alla, needing the job and money, had always endured his actions. But now that she was leaving Reed Corporation, she no longer feared him.

Despite her cold treatment, Billie remained unfazed. He even affectionately pinched her cheek, "Sleep with me once, and we'll get acquainted quickly." Alla rolled her eyes, repulsed by his audacity, and pushed him away. Billie, however, grew more excited by her resistance. He leaned in and planted a forceful kiss on her cheek. The cold sensation made Alla nauseous.

Just as she was about to push him away, an elderly voice sounded from behind. "Casiano?" Upon hearing this name, Alla froze, her body rigid. She slowly turned around, her gaze falling upon Casiano Davies standing at the elevator entrance. They were quite far apart, and she couldn't discern his expression. All she could see were his peach blossom eyes, staring at her unblinkingly. The cold aura emanating from his gaze threatened to devour her.

Julio Reed, the Chairman of Reed Corporation, entered the company just in time to see Casiano. He immediately led the shareholders over, "Casiano, what brings you to Reed Corporation today?" Casiano withdrew his gaze and responded indifferently to Julio Reed, "Dropping off Ella."

Understanding dawned upon Julio Reed. Casiano was there to show support for his daughter. He nodded approvingly, "You've been very kind, Casiano. Ella just returned home and already you're running around for her." Casiano showed no emotion, offering a polite smile, "I should get back to Davies Corporation."

Mr. Reed hurriedly added, "Go ahead, don't let us delay your work. In a few days, I'll bring Ella to your home for a formal visit." Casiano nodded and made his way out. The bodyguards following him quickly formed two lines, ensuring his safe passage.

As he passed Alla, he didn't even spare her a glance, completely ignoring her. Indeed, it must have been a misunderstanding earlier. Casiano didn't care for her in the slightest, so why would he bother looking at her?
