Chapter 47 - The Anger of The Hive

{pictures}

As Breder watched the elevator leave with his child, he smirked and laughed at the thought of the woman with it… He ponders on the face that she will make at the scene of her child that she worked so hard to save, dying in her arms! Tho, it is… a pity that his child may die in the process, a thought that did condense his smile…

[Breder… you not going after her?] ask Layla between eggs

{No! I have other plans… But I can't let a risk to the hive loose…} replied Breder as he stood by the elevator with a stern expression.

With low hisses and growls that hid in the shadow of their father waited for their command, As Breder said:

{Go! Bring me back her head!}

At his command, six scarlet runners, with numbers on their heads, shot forward with vicious smiles and hungry stomachs!

However, as they went on the hunt, Elphe watched her father and felt the sadness in his voice, as she too knew he cared for the child lost on top of the snowy cliff! And as the one in charge 'of the rearing of the young,' it was her job to bring this child home!

With a bow in the shadows, Elphe disappeared into the mountain. While Ilzec walked up to Breder, but before he could say anything, Breder interrupted him and said:

{I know Blacky situation… But leave him! Should he overcome this trial, he'll be all the better for it! So, instead of worrying about your brother, prepare the fish people's juveniles for freedom…As I have a deal to keep!}

With a bow, IIzec left as he nodded to Collin to single his turn, but as he approached Breder from behind, Breder said:

{As for you Collin, prepare your team and wake up Miriely! We're going on a HUNT!} screamed Breder with a maddening bloodthirst that sent a chill down even Collin's back! A chill that gained a crazed smile on Collin's face!

Rashad Border Captain POV

[Is the area sealed off?] asked the guard captain to his subordinates

[yes! Sir! The bombs are ready!] replied the grunt

[Good… blow it!] replied the captain

[Yes! Sir Noah!]

[Great! Now let's see those fuckers try using the cesspits to try and surprise us again!] said Noah to Rashad over the inter comm when:

Explosion after explosion sank the town streets, old and young buildings crumbled to dust as they flooded the sewer system, while tons of derby and rock now block the waterways! But as the melted snow pours in to fill the cracks, a loud roaring hiss echoes throughout the bombing site!

Putting everyone on edge as the winter sun begins to set over the white snow, changing its color but for a moment to crimson red! As Noah had everyone point their weapons at the chasm, they stared intently at it as they heard the raging roar again coming from deep within!

But as a lone grunt approached the chasm, it was as if time had frozen. For all but the winter birds that circled overhead waiting… and drooling! As the sun reaches its zenith hour, the earth in the chasm explodes outward! Sending metal and rock onto the men! While some were crushed underfoot, others shot their rifles into the chasm filled with raging Xenos with giant crowns! While smaller ones shoot acid from their backs!

While men screamed RAID! The buildings around them, which they thought were safe, turned out to be filled with hell! For through twin skyscrapers dropped down Xenos that match the sky in color red! While warriors of all sizes plagued the corridors by corridors!

As sniping men hid in their towers, they never saw it coming! Sharpen tails entered their backs, while the teams that waited in those darkened hallways, fought for every inch of ground, only to be slaughtered from vent ceiling or hallow floors! Or just by sheer numbers!

But then… As Noah looked onto the battlefield, he couldn't believe his eyes! For as the white one stood staring at him on top of a boulder, the monsters that surrounded him were beyond imagination! Though different they were also similar in appearance but varied much in size and shape! Some glowed fluorescence colors, while others had multitudes of tails or some fish parts, and others looked exactly the same but bigger or weirdly enough, had many eyes or extra limbs!

A circus of monster's freaks that looked like a patchwork of creatures born by mixing in some parts humans and some parts… something else! At least that is what Noah believed, as he heard scream after scream coming over the many intercoms! Only to be overshadowed by the noise created by the men's life lights going out! And as the alien creatures poured out of the chasm, there stood a white one, with a commanding crown that shone in the light that faded!

Noah instinctively knew this one was the leader, he could feel it! But that's what scared him! It scared him not because of its looks or its intimidating presence. But rather, the monsters under its control… They gave an odd feeling, not one of pure malice or bloodlust like normal monsters… sure it was there but that wasn't it…No! Rather what Noah felt was the fact that the monster could feel the white one's anger but not as previously stated! It was more of a need to feed… feed what? Noah didn't know… And that feeling was what terrified him!

And by that, Noah could tell that the furry that it had for him… As he watched it walk slowly through the ongoing fire, as its tail killed brave men, or as it threw some smaller creature on the injured! He watched It throw blades from it back in impossible angles that kill strategically.

The only saving grace was that these monsters were relatively frail. At least the smaller ones were…. While some of the bigger ones did take longer to kill, but at least to Noah's eyes, trading in a few men to kill what he believed to be the enemy champions was worth it! Little did he know, were that those so-called 'champions' were little more than drones! Some barely one to two days old at that! Nonetheless, it did put a little smile on Noah's face, knowing that at least his men didn't die in vain!

It was then that Noah heard Rashad scream over the comms! But he ignored it as the white one approached him! Running was pointless… begging for mercy more so… complete ambush and shock… knowing there was nothing he could do to change the outcome of this battle, Noah's thoughts turned to himself for solace….

[I see... It was our hubris and lack of understanding that had caused this situation… but if I can at least stall this one then maybe some of my men can escape!] thought Noah who didn't know their border wall was already surrounded!

The men in the back were already dead or captured! And his feeble walls were already being broken down by big aliens with heavy crowns, while others simply crawled over it! Barbwire be damned or shocking fences or auto turrets!

As Noah stared down that white alien and said:

[Our captain will stop you!]

The white alien only responded with a simple hand motion, as the earthquake under giant aliens born of crocodiles or lizard men burst through the walls! Being twice the size of crushers, and that of Miriely! As they continued their killing!

As the shock lessened, Noah looked around to see monsters with glowing heads, razor blades, and giant freaks! While to his left he saw plain weak humans… humans who had lost to their fear! And as they died, Noah thought to himself while he was being captured:

[could I have done something differently… Ya! I should have never taken this job!]

Hours later at the Border setup: Rashad's short POV

As Rashad left his truck with his axe in hand, he stepped onto a ghostly battlefront! As his men dismounted their vehicles, they scanned the area for any hints of the enemy, but all they found were corpses riddled by birds! There were over a hundred men at this border wall only a few hours ago, but now only dead silence remained!

[What's the casualty report!] Demanded Rashad to a grunt

[Sir! There are no survivors that we can find…but it's weird…] replied the grunt

[weird?] replied Rashad

[yes sir! Some of our scouts reported dragging marks... like. Like some of the soldiers were dragged away somewhere…] replied the grunt

[You're implying they captured some of the men?] replied Rashad

[yes sir!] said the grunt

[Well, that's not new! We already knew that they like capturing people! But for what… now that's the question! So, it's not as weird as you think… After all, we are facing an unknown monster threat… they could be simply taking a snack for later…] replied Rashad before asking

[What are their life light statues?]

[sir... Unknown, the machine used to monitor the men was destroyed in the attack!] replied the grunt

[I see… dam, that was good money!] thought Rashad

[anything else?] continued Rashad

[umm. Yes… here is the report of all the damages we sustained trying to hold this checkpoint…] replied the grunt

As Rashad looked over the continence of the report, all he saw were dollar signs… and not the good kind! Furious, Rashad slammed his axe into dead alien corpses, at the sheer thought of how much money he lost! From guns to ammo spent to fortification to men's lives! All things he was in shorthand now after his ship was damaged…

After taking a breather, Rashad looked at the grunt who was comically hiding behind fellow officers, and said in a whisper before calling the grunt over:

[sigh, this was supposed to be an easy quick mission for some cash!]

[you there… grunt… has any of the scouts found any trace of the monster, yet?]

[Umm. No sure… it's like they have disappeared! At least according to the scouts.] replied the grunt.

[that doesn't make any sense… it's been hours since the enemy took this battlefront... Yet… no one has spotted them in the interior of the city… And now their nowhere to be seen here? Why not advance? Why give up so much to take this fort if you're just going to leave or not defend it? Just what are they planning?] thought Rashad to himself.

[well maybe it's better if they don't show up… the money is not even worth it anymore… that poultry sum isn't even enough to cover the ship repairs! Maybe when the ship is fixed… We just leave this god-forsaken place to the monster! I doubt anyone here will live long enough to spread rumors of us leaving anyway! Wait no... then we would have to give up on all the free real estate! Maybe… I can ask for more!] thought Rashad as an evil smile appeared on his face.

[the monster did only attack our checkpoint and not the one controlled by the city defends…Hehe maybe they just wanted vengeance... Idiots! Just like a stupid monster! They're probably licking their wounds now in some cave or in the city pits!] continued to think Rashad.

But as he was trapped in fantasy in his head, the men screamed at a terrible sound of rocks cracking… waning by their own tremendous weight! For the twin skyscrapers that covered the right and the left of the fort came crashing down on top of them!

While in the shadows of that crash stood a shimmering black alien that shone in a silver red!

{well sons… down for round two?} said Breder to Blacky and Collins with a smile.

[always!] replied Blacky with a grin as he looked back at his advanced group.

{Great! Then let's get this night party started!} hissed Breder in joy.
