Chapter 11 - [Newborn]

=====================

In Progress . . .

Transferring The Soul . . .

=====================

My consciousness drifted in a state of peaceful slumber within the vastness of the soul realm. My mind felt weightless, untethered from the confines of the physical world. Colours swirled and merged around me. As I slept, a soft, melodious hum reverberated through the soul realm.

With each passing moment, the world around me gained clarity.

A golden morning light spilled in, illuminating the room that was adorned by stone walls. Inside the room, a young couple stood by the bed, their eyes alight with both exhaustion and joy. Their hearts swelled with love as they beheld the tiny, sleeping baby wrapped in soft swaddling cloth.

"Welcome to this world, Raul." said both of them.

Aelen gently squeezed Viora's hand and kissed her forehead. As the parents admired their newborn, a seasoned nurse stood nearby, her hands clasped together. "Welcome to this world, young one. May you be guided by the light and find joy in your days."

Unbeknownst to the new parents and the nurse, the newborn was still stirred in his slumber. Except for…

'Sir Reynold, what have you done! H-how could you! T-this shouldn't happen!' Garen growled.

Frustrated, Garen's soul had become part of my partial mind, and he was utterly disbelieving of what had happened to him.

With delicate care, Viora lifted her child from his cradle and held him close. She gently touched her son's cheek, marvelling at the tender innocence before her. Aelen wrapped an arm around his wife, sharing in the moment of profound wonder.

"With everything settled, allow me to excuse myself." Aelen walked the nurse out of the house.

Hey, Reynold, wake up already! How long are you going to stay asleep? Furthermore, you have to explain yourself for what reason you took my soul? Garen tried to talk to me.

Gradually, my eyes fluttered open as I felt someone was knocking countlessly on my consciousness, my surroundings a blur of unfamiliar shapes and colours. I blinked several times, trying to make sense of the world around me. Confusion washed over me, and I felt a disorienting sense of detachment from my previous existence. But my heart felt a little bit heavy the moment my eyes were opened.

My gaze settled on the woman standing before me, and I felt an inexplicable surge of emotion deep within my heart. She was a stranger, yet her presence felt strangely comforting, as if I had known her my entire life.

Where am I? And who is she?

Viora, with her warm hazel eyes and a soft smile, leaned closer to the cradle. Her hand reached out to caress the infant's cheek. "Olleh, elttil eno,"

("Hello, little one.")

she cooed, her eyes glistening with love.

Huh? Ah, I got reincarnated. The game had already begun.

My emotional burst was interrupted as my view was suddenly blocked by a strange screen window that popped up in front of me out of nowhere.

[ Title Earned ! ]

[ A Newborn Of A New World ! ]

Only 99.4% of players have achieved this.

Congratulations on being born! Or, to be more precise, congratulations on coming out of your mother-

!!! ( SOME WORDS HAVE BEEN CENSORED BY THE STREAM ) !!!

-You've successfully been transferred into this world without any harm. The body you have now is the borrowed body of the previous owner. It means the previous owner of the body's life has been completely replaced by yours. Therefore, you must treasure this life as if it were your own. In other words, you've been adopted into this world. Your body may be blood-related to some, but your soul isn't. Also, you won't receive any ESSENCE POINTS from this achievement. This is an achievement you shouldn't be proud of.

Regardless, how the f*ck did some of you fail this!? You only need to walk toward the path that leads to the lights. How can some of you still go the opposite way of it!? Like, how and why? Anyway, it's not what I've been programmed to help with. Furthermore, this title is the privilege of you being recognized as a reincarnator in this world. So, always remember that you are a foreigner in this world and don't pretend to be a prick who knows everything about this world!

[Tips!] Be mindful! Act as one of their children if you don't want to be thrown out from the family. The previous player didn't heed our warning, and because of that, some of them had to live as homeless children at the beginning of their reincarnation. The worst part is that some of them were killed because their parents thought their child was possessed!

==============================

Huh!? What the hell is this weird text?

That text is from the system. They will notify you each time you earn an achievement, though this one doesn't count. I could hear Garen's monotone voice inside my head.

Wait? Garen? Is that you? Heh, so it does work. I exclaimed.

I suppose so!? Now, tell me what's the reason behind it. He was more composed now.

Well, technically speaking I was just testing it out. Also, I thought it will give me advantages of having you around me in this world.

You should have informed me ahead!! He groaned.

You might refuse it if I share those thoughts. Well, we can't go back now and there aren't any rules saying that I can't bring you along. Speaking of it, this is part of my skill, so I didn't go against anything. Cheer up! You got the front seat of seeing me in action, I guess?

The door opened as it made the creaking sound. "Yenoh, emoc ereh, Raul sah nekow pu."

(Honey, come here, Raul has woken up.")

The man in his middle age came standing next to the woman with a bright yet soft smile on his face.

I gazed up at my supposed—to—be—parents in this world, Aelen and Viora, with wide, curious eyes. Surprisingly to me, I couldn't understand a single word from them.

What language is this? And by the way, are both of them my parents in this world?

Yes, it seemed that way to me. He send his thoughts to me.

My mother, Viora, had cascading locks of dark hair that framed a face of delicate beauty. Her hazel eyes were like pools of warm honey, sparkling with kindness. A gentle smile seemed to perpetually grace her lips, radiating an aura of comfort and safety that enveloped me whenever she drew near. Again, it felt like my heart suddenly dropped from a very high place.

Viora's touch was as soft as the petals of a flower yet her palm felt a bit rough, her hands tenderly caressing my cheek or gently stroking my tiny fingers. Whenever she spoke despite not understanding it, her voice was a soothing melody, lulling me into a sense of peace and contentment.

My father, Aelen, stood tall and strong, with broad shoulders and violet eyes that shimmered like the embers of a hearth fire. His face bore a rugged handsomeness. He was exuding a noble demeanour. See, again, my heart dropped. Was this a normal baby mechanism whenever they see their parents?

My innocent gaze absorbed the nuances of my parents' looks—the way they exchanged glances filled with silent understanding.

Wait, both of them were very good-looking. What a spectacle sight to behold.

I tried to form words but only a soft gurgle escaped my lips.

"kool ta Raul og, eh si gniyrt ot etacinummoc htiw su!"

("Look at Raul go, he is trying to communicate with us!

Garen, are you able to understand what they said?

Unfortunately, their languages aren't stored in my data. He said.

This doesn't sound very good. Learning foreign language isn't easy, moreover the only source of learning available is through observing and hearing. Well, on the good side, I still have a long way to go, there is nothing much I can do with this infant body anyway.

Reynold, it seems your first goal is to master this language. After that, I believe the path to understand this world will extend for you. He lectured me with his static voice.

Well, at least I know what my name was. 'Raul' was the name they kept on calling me. I guess from now on, I need to get used to being called that. So starting from now on, you should address me as Raul.

You seemed to enjoy this.

What? Why not? It's a game after all.

After being born into this world, everything was in a repetitive cycle. In the morning, Viora will give me a bath. Viora gently cradled me in her arms as she made her way to the wooden basin filled with warm water. While I was at it, I couldn't help but to admire the setting of this world.

The soft glow of candlelight danced on the stone walls of their modest home, creating a cosy ambiance for the morning bath. I cooed softly, seemingly content in the amazement of this new life.

"Time rof ruoy bath, my sweet."

("Time for your bath, my sweet.")

Viora whispered, her voice a soothing melody. She laid a soft kiss on my forehead before lowering me into the water, supporting my tiny body with her other hand. Me, on the other hand are slowly adapting and understanding certain of her words.

The water enveloped me in warmth. Carefully, she cupped water in her hands and let it trickle over my rosy cheeks and down my pudgy belly.

Usually, a normal infant would gurgles and giggles, filling the room with joy. But I didn't even bother to even express my emotion. Because I was still uncomfortable as someone else was washing my body.

I felt my pride was shattered. Especially when I stared at my jewels.

As Viora washed me, she spoke softly, sharing stories and songs that had been passed down through generations. The soothing cadence of her voice seemed to enchant me. I took this opportunity to learn every word she spoke.

[ Congratulations, you had your first bath in this world! ]

[ You have earned +1 Essence Point ]

Once my bath was complete, Viora lifted me out of the water, wrapping me in a soft towel that she had warmed by the fire. Then, she put me back into the cradle.

This was the very first routine I had in the morning. Next was…After Viora settled her breakfast preparation, she took me out of the cradle again and it's time for me to be fed.

Viora cradled little me in her arms, drawing me close to her chest. She had settled herself comfortably on a cushioned chair, ensuring both her and me comfort during the feeding.

[ Congratulations, you had your first breastfeeding in this world! More to come in your later age! ]

[ You have earned +1 Essence Point ]

I always finds this uncomfortable so every time I was being breastfeeding, I always tends to close my eyes. I mean like everyone would do the same, right? At first, I refused to be fed. But slowly, I succumbed to it. Don't take it the wrong way, I have to. I didn't have any other options.

With tender care, Viora guided me to her breast, and I instinctively latched on. A contented sigh escaped her lips as she felt the familiar sensation of nourishing her precious son. My tiny hands gently kneaded at her breast, finding their natural rhythm.

There's nothing to be ashamed of— Garen tried to speak but I cut him off.

Shut up, you're the last person I ever want to hear it from!

After that, Viora deftly tied a soft cloth around her shoulder, creating a makeshift sling. She adjusted the fabric to ensure it provided proper support and comfort for her precious bundle, little me. With practiced ease, she carefully settled me into the sling, positioning me securely against her body.

With me nestled close to her, Viora resumed her daily tasks. She moved about the home, a natural grace in her steps despite the added weight of her precious cargo. The soft sway of her movements seemed to lull me, and I nestled comfortably against her.

As she moved from task to task, Viora talked to me, sharing the details of her day as if I was her confidant.

Did you catch what those words meant?

Yes, maybe…what were the later words again. Garen said.

Hmm, I believe it was milk or water. Between those two.

Yes, I believe so too. We've been trying to learn this language by making mental notes to each other.

Viora carefully laid little me on the changing table, making sure it was softly cushioned for my comfort. The soft glow of candlelight bathed the room, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere even during nighttime routines.

Viora smiled down at me, a tender expression of love and affection in her eyes.

"Time for a hresf diaper, my little Raul," she said gently, using the endearing nickname she often called me.

She secured the diaper around me, making sure it fit snugly but not too tight.

"There we go, all clean and yrd," Viora cooed, placing a soft kiss on my tummy. It's tickled.

With me cradled close to her chest, Viora made her way to the cozy corner of the room where a small crib awaited. The room was now dimly lit, with only the soft glow of the candles casting gentle shadows.

This was my final everyday-routine.

She gently lowered me into the crib, making sure I was comfortable and secure. Viora and Aelen leaned over. Viora softly brushes her lips against my forehead.

"Sleep well, my precious Raul," she whispered, her voice like a tender lullaby. "May the angels watch over you as you dream." Aelen wrapped his hand around her shoulder.

My eyes drooped heavily. I yawned, curling up on my side, and Viora pulled the soft blankets up to my chest. Still, it felt weird sleeping with this tiny body. I felt comfortable yet vulnerable.

Are you going to sleep?

Stop asking me that everytime I close my eyes. I have to or they won't leave me yet.

She settled into a nearby chair, keeping a loving watch over me as I drifted off to sleep.
