Andromeda continued her progress through the gathering, her gaze shifting gracefully from one group to another. She greeted Lady Helena, Lady Isolt, Baroness Beatrice, Lady Amelia, Lady Eleanor, Duchess Gabriella, and many others with poise and charm. Her attention was drawn to Lady Maria Marlowe, Sylvette's mother, whose presence was an unexpected surprise. Approaching her with a warm smile, Andromeda spoke, "Lady Maria, it has been far too long."
Maria Marlowe returned the smile, though it failed to reach her tired, sunken eyes. "Indeed, Lady Andromeda. Congratulations on your recent triumph at the knowledge fair."
"Thank you," Andromeda replied smoothly, carefully avoiding any mention of Sylvette. It was better for the Le Blancs to move on from that troublesome chapter. "I trust we can count on your support during these trying times."
