While heading towards the village square to find the Guild Center, Lucas asked the fairy if she knew anything about the Guild Center. "I am glad you asked," Fairy replied with a smile. "Guild Center is an organization that takes the corpses of animals and cuts them into parts to be used for various uses. The hunter, in this case, gets paid for the corpse and doesn't have to worry about selling it. It's a win-win system for both Guild Center and the seller!" Fairy explained. Upon hearing the information Lucas spotted the Guild Center bustling with people. He entered and looked around. The place was filled with hunters, travelers and various people that seemed strong. Laughter and chattering of the people filled the air.
Lucas approached a clerk sitting behind the counter, with a friendly smile, looked up to Lucas and greeted him warmly. "Welcome to the Guild Center, sir. How can I assist you today?" he asked in a nice manner. The clerk stared at Lucas. "Are you here to join the Winter Wolves?" he asked, referring to the mercenary group. Lucas shook his head. "No, I'm here to sell animal corpses. I've been thinking about hunting in the dangerous woods nearby," he explained. The clerk nodded approvingly. "Very well. We can accommodate that. The fee for registering as a seller is 10 silver coins," he informed Lucas. Lucas reached into his pouch and pulled out silver coins, counting them carefully. "I seem to have not enough coins. Is there any other way I can register?"
After a brief pause, he spoke, "Well, we do offer a temporary solution. You can sign a contract with the Guild Center, agreeing to allocate a portion of your future earnings to cover the registration fee. Once you earn enough, the debt will be considered paid." Relieved by the clerk's alternative suggestion, Lucas nodded. "That would be greatly appreciated," he said. "Although I recommend paying whatever you can to lower the debt." The clerk said, looking at the silver coins that Lucas was holding. "Alright then, here you go." Lucas handed the remaining five coins he had to the clerk. He grabbed the coin and went inside the room in the back. After a while the clerk came back and handed Lucas a contract to sign, outlining the terms of the agreement. Lucas carefully read through the document before affixing his signature. He saw nothing was unfair in the contract. With the contract signed, the clerk welcomed Lucas as a registered seller and provided him with his identification badge. "Be careful not to lose the badge. It can also serve as an identification in some places, and it also displays your rank within the Guild Center" Clerk explained. Curious about the rank, Lucas inquired further. The clerk explained that the badge had different ranks: novice, intermediate, and expert. Representing the hunter's skill and experience level. Lucas thanked the clerk for the explanation and bid him farewell.
As Lucas stepped outside the Guild Center. Feeling the growl of hunger in his stomach, reminding him that he hadn't eaten for days. Regret washed over him for using all his ten coins without considering his immediate needs. Lucas sets his sights on the dangerous woods surrounding the village. He knows that venturing into these woods requires caution and skill, but he is determined to gather enough animal corpses to earn money and pay off his debt to the Guild Center. Most importantly, he needs to eat something. Lucas took a deep breath, his determination overriding the gnawing hunger in his stomach. He knew he had to focus on the task at hand and gather enough animal corpses to earn some money. The dangerous woods awaited him. As he entered the woods, Lucas immediately felt a shift in the atmosphere. The once lively village seemed distant now, replaced by the eerie silence of the ancient trees. The dense foliage blocked out most of the sunlight, casting long shadows on the forest floor. Lucas only had his rusty beginner sword that was provided to him. It was not an optimal tool to hunt with, but he had to hunt with it anyway because he ran out of money to buy better supplies. As he walked around he listened intently for any rustling leaves and for an animal sounds, his senses on high alert.
After a while, he noticed a set of fresh tracks on the forest floor. Excitement coursed through his veins as he recognized them as wild boar tracks. Remembering the fairy's warning about the aggressive boar pack that had been terrorizing the nearby farms, Lucas knew this was the opportunity he had been seeking. Following the tracks, he moved deeper into the woods, his every step calculated and silent. The anticipation grew with each passing moment, and his heart pounded in his chest. He knew that facing a boar pack alone would be dangerous, but boars are more likely to be alone then a wolf. As he continued tracking, Lucas's ears perked up at the faint sound of snorting and grunting. He crouched down, careful not to make a sound, and cautiously approached the source of the noise. Lucas spotted a massive boar, its powerful tusks gleaming in the dappled sunlight. The boar was foraging for food, completely unaware of Lucas's presence.
"It looks like an abnormal boar." Lucas whispered to the fairy.
"How are you going to kill it?" The fairy responded.
"I don't know," he said.
Remembering that the animals in this wood are stronger than the normal animals, Lucas knew he had to be swift and accurate in his attack. He took a deep breath to steady his nerves and gripped his rusty sword tightly. With a surge of adrenaline, he lunged forward, his blade aimed at the boar's vulnerable spot. The boar, startled by the sudden movement, let out a loud snort and charged towards Lucas. Time seemed to slow down as Lucas evaded the boar's attack with a nimble sidestep. He swiftly countered, slashing his sword across the boar's flank. The blade made contact, but it was blocked by the boar's tough formidable barrier. Lucas realized his sword was inadequate for this task. However, he refused to give up. Thinking quickly, Lucas improvised a plan. He would use the environment to his advantage. As the boar charged again, he dodged its attack and maneuvered himself behind a sturdy tree trunk. The boar's massive body collided with the tree, momentarily stunning it. There was a chapter for facing the boar in the Book of Guidance he read. Seizing the opportunity, Lucas dashed forward, this time targeting the boar's exposed underbelly. With a swift and precise strike, he managed to pierce the boar's flesh, causing it to let out a pained squeal. The wounded boar thrashed about, its movements growing weaker with each passing moment. Lucas knew he had to act swiftly to finish the job. Summoning all his strength, he delivered a final blow to the boar, swiftly ending its life. Lucas stood there, panting heavily. He had successfully hunted down a wild boar. Relying on his knowledge. This victory would surely get him some money. With great effort, Lucas hoisted the boar's carcass onto his shoulder, feeling the weight of his accomplishment. Leaving the dangerous woods behind, Lucas made his way back to the Guild Center, the presence of the animal corpse signaling his success. The familiar sounds of laughter and chatter greeted him as he entered the bustling building. Few people looked at him and the dead boar on his back, but Lucas didn't care.
Approaching the counter, Lucas caught the attention of the clerk who had assisted him earlier. The clerk's eyes widened as he saw Lucas's prize. "Oh, you have to put the copies in another place," he exclaimed. Lucas nodded, understanding why people were glancing at him.
"No one explained that to me." Lucas complained.
"Sorry, I don't know everything about the human system," said the fairy.
The clerk gestured towards Lucas and led him to the area where hunters could present their animal corpses for evaluation. Lucas followed the instructions, carefully placing the boar's body down. A Guild Center official approached, inspecting the animal and verifying its quality. After a thorough assessment, the official nodded in approval. "This is a fine specimen. Well done, hunter. Your efforts have paid off. This will be 100 silver and with the fee the total will be 75 silver." Lucas thanked the official and made his way to the payment counter. With the 75 coins in his hand, he couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope for his future as a hunter.
