When she reached home, another surprise was waiting for her.
A young man in his early twenties, dressed up in a sweat shirt and grey denims, had his back rested on the wall. His eyes were fixed on the ceiling. It appeared he had been waiting for her for some time. One of his legs was propped up on the wall as though it was holding the weight of his entire body. Cece squinted, the semi-lit corridor did not make it easy to see his face.
Cece recalled what Mia had said to her before she left her place. "Stay safe, and don't trust strangers." Cece had dismissed it with a laugh. She knew all about stranger danger. The cases they discussed were terrifying but the way Mia warned her was just too silly.
