Genevieve took a few steps back in shock. She felt as though the painting had slapped her.
"What's going on?" Genevieve was taken aback.
"Young lady Genevieve, be careful!" Quer shouted.
Genevieve turned to Quer and Moland and saw them being attacked by something emerging from the painting. It was a fast-moving, wild, shadowy entity.
"What is that?" Genevieve wondered.
She swiftly drew her rapier and protected Quer and Moland from the shadowy attacks. She deftly cut through the shadow with agile movements, making sure not to be touched, as she knew it could endanger her life.
"Is this the painting's guardian, Young lady Genevieve?" Quer asked with a trembling voice.
"It seems that way," Genevieve replied as she continued to fight. "But I don't know why they're attacking us."
"Perhaps they're the church's protectors," Moland speculated. "Maybe they don't like us entering."
