We entered the dining hall and there was food already laid out on the table for the both of us.
I walked over to the head of the long rectangular table and placed my daughter in a seat next to mine with cushions on it so that she could reach the table and I sat in the head chair.
We were served with a simple, warm syrup porridge. I picked up the spoon and dug in. It had been a while since I'd actually eaten something so simple, or even anything at all.
Out of the corner of my eye I could see that my child wasn't eating.
I also just realised that I don't know the name of my own daughter. I've only been calling her my child or my daughter the whole time.
"Daughter, I realised that I don't know your name, and do you even have one?" I asked her.
That last part I asked because in some places, children don't get named at birth and instead get named after a certain age based on how they act or what they want to do with their life.
She shook her head in response, still just sitting there, looking down at the table and grasping onto its edges.
"What's wrong? Is it the food? Do you not like porridge? Or is it something else." I asked, worry evident in my tone.
"..." She continued to sit there in silence, an aura of depression starting to gather around her.
I leaned over and picked her up and sat her in my lap. I then grabbed her bowl with magic, which seemed to brighten her mood a little, and proceeded to hand feed her myself.
I spooned up some porridge and brought it to her mouth, encouraging her to eat. Yet she still didn't open her mouth and just remained silent.
I sighed and put the spoon down and asked, "What's wrong? I promise that there's almost nothing I can't do, so if there's something bothering you, I promise I will use all of my power to fix it."
"I-I... I want..." She started muttering as tears once again.
I turned her around and pulled her in close again, calmly stroking her head and doing my best to comfort her and calm her down so she could speak.
She soon calmed down again and I turned her to face me.
"Hey, look at me." I said in a compassionate yet stern tone.
She shivered slightly at the way I spoke to her but she did look up at me, most likely scared of the consequences.
I took a deep breath and spoke once more, "If there is ever anything that bothers you, you can come to papa and I will deal with it to the best of my abilities, okay?" I said somewhat sweetly.
She sniffled and nodded at me, tears still streaming down her face, but she at least didn't seem as scared as before.
"Now, tell me what's wrong." I asked once more.
She nodded meekly and said, "I w-wasn't g-given a n-name." She trembled as she spoke.
"Would you like one then?" I asked.
"Mhmm…" she responded meekly.
"Hmm… Then how about…" I stopped to think about it for a moment before I came up with a name.
"Sh'Aura'Nexa. Do you like that?"
She looked up at me with sparkles in her eyes as she heard her new name.
"Well? Do you like it?" I asked once more.
"Mhmm!!" She nodded vigorously.
"Good, I'm glad you like it. Then from henceforth, your name will be "Sh'Aura'Nexa" or Sh'Aura for short, or just simply Aura."
My daughter, now known as Sh'Aura'Nexa, gave a beaming smile at being given such an impressive name.
'Good' I thought as I smiled at her giddy expression. 'At least she's not sad anymore.'
"Now, eat your breakfast before it gets too cold." I instructed her as I sat her back in her seat.
"Okay~" She said cheerfully as she finally began eating.
The two of us soon finished our meals and I picked her up again and carried her to my office.
"Where are we going?" She asked with a look of fascination as she looked at the grand and intricate designs of the palace, built over the generations of Demon Emperor's that have come and gone.
"To my office, where we need to do some paperwork." I answered.
Sh'Aura didn't seem to like that as she made a pouty face and said, "I don't wanna."
I sighed, knowing that I would encounter this problem sooner or later, so I had to nip it in the bud before it got bigger.
"I know that this is boring, but it has to be done, as this is but one of the many steps to making you, my daughter." I explained to her.
She groaned in annoyance, but didn't protest either, meaning that she understood that she had to do this.
We soon reached my office and walked in, and in there, was Golba.
"Hmm?" Both of us reacted in the same manner upon seeing each other.
"What are you doing in my office?" I asked her.
"I have something to repot to you my lord, but it can wait till later." She said upon seeing my daughter in my arms.
"Who's that?" Sh'Aura asked, pointing at Golba.
"Ah, that's right. You were asleep when I introduced you to my generals. This is Golba." I explained patiently.
"Gowba?" She repeated.
"Close enough." I then walked over to my desk and sat down, leaving Sh'Aura in my lap as she looked around with curiosity. I then took out some papers from one my drawers and grabbed a quill, I then pricked my finger with the quill to draw my blood and began writing the document.
A couple of minutes later I had just finished writing the document when my little girl got a bit restless just sitting there.
"Don't worry, I'm nearly done, we both just need to sign this and you will officially be my daughter." I said to her while writing my signature.
"Now You just need to put your name here. Do you know how to write?" I asked, to which she shook her head. "That's fine, I have another way of doing this, though it may hurt a little. Is that okay?" I asked gently.
She looked a bit scared but eventually nodded.
"Good, now, please present your hand to me." She did so and I then pricked it with the quill, making her wince slightly but otherwise, she handled it very well.
I then wrote her new name one there in her blood and it was complete.
Sh'Aura'Nexa Imperilo
I rolled up the document and put the seal of the Demonic Emperor on it and the document started floating, glowing red as it rose into the air before turning into particles of red energy that flew into both me, and my little girl.
It was now official.
*Clap* *Clap* *Clap*
"Congratulations your majesty." Golba applauded. I'd completely forgotten she was there.
