Chapter 9 - You Are My Fiancée

"Do you recognize?" Nangong Lei, with his deep eyes burning like a torch, stared at Lin Huijin.

"Then... Who am I? Who are you? What is our relationship?" Lin Huijin pointed at herself and then at Nangong Lei with her fingers, her clear and serene eyes devoid of any impurities.

It was as if a maiden who had never seen the outside world was curiously asking what the outside world looked like.

Nangong Lei, on the other hand, answered patiently, "You are Lin Huijin, the daughter of the current prime minister. I am Nangong Lei, the third prince of the current dynasty. When you were ten, you became my fiancée."

"Ah? I'm your fiancée?" Lin Huijin feigned surprise, her lively eyes spinning around, "Then what did you just say about me being in the Prince Jin's mansion for three years? What does that mean?"

Lin Huijin thought that Nangong Lei would tell her everything, including how she had deceived him, betrayed him, and then married someone else when he became a cripple.

But Nangong Lei, with his calm tone, said indifferently, "It doesn't matter, you just need to know that you are my fiancée, and we consummated our marriage last night, so I will take you as my consort."

Lin Huijin seemed to have some difficulty understanding the thinking of ancient people, wondering if Nangong Lei had lost his mind.

She not only betrayed him and married another man, but also caused him to lose his looks and almost become a cripple.

He not only does not hate her, but also says he wants to marry her?

Isn't Prince Jin still alive? Then how can he marry?

One woman married to two men? This is truly an age-old tale!

Listening to this, Lin Huijin was stunned for a long time. After all these events, has the third prince's love for her not changed at all?

"Do you not remember what happened last night?" Nangong Lei, looking at Lin Huijin's surprised face, asked in a very calm voice.

Lin Huijin immediately shook her head, "No, I was just wondering why I appeared here and how..."

She could not finish her words.

"You were drugged, probably rolled down from the hillside behind us." Nangong Lei had only found out this much so far, "What else do you remember?"

Lin Huijin thought for a moment and decided to simply talk about what had happened after she had crossed over, "I remember waking up feeling hot all over, seeing a tent here with a candle lit, so I walked in."

"Is that all?" Nangong Lei asked after hearing what Lin Huijin had said.

Lin Huijin nodded and then touched the back of her head, feeling a sharp pain.

"You rest first, I will call the army doctor for you." With that, he walked out of the tent, his tall and jade-like figure bathed in the light of dawn, carrying a hint of aloofness and coldness.

A bad thought suddenly flashed through Lin Huijin's mind.

The third prince's attitude towards her now, compared to three years ago, was a world apart.

Back then, the third prince was always cautious around her, his words always with a touch of flattery, for fear of upsetting her with a wrong word.

He cared about her very much, even if her hand was accidentally scratched, the third prince was extremely nervous, repeatedly asking her if it hurt, if she needed to see the doctor.
