I lie in bed, my eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. Calais is here again today, as he has been every day since our argument. He tries to talk to me, to get through to me, but I don't respond. Besides, there's no point.
"I'll do anything to make it up to you," he continues. "Just eat and I will give you whatever you want."
What I want? The only thing I want is my child, but that's an impossibility now.
Still, Calais stays, despite my icy demeanor towards him. And so days turn into weeks, and the only reason that I am alive is because of the healers who come in and provide sustenance via magic.
But then, one day, the door opens, and Tiana enters without waiting for any permission. She observes me, disappointment evident on her face.
