Finally, Cornelius pulls back a little. He cups my cheeks. He is flushing and his fingers are lightly touching my swollen lips.
"I want you, Lyrica. I never wanted a woman in my entire life," Cornelius whispers, his eyes going back and forth between my eyes and lips. "I am not yet in love with you, but I am sure as hell that I am lusting for you. Only for you."
Of course he does! I can feel it in the way he holds and kisses me!
I push at him, too conscious of Calais' eyes on me. Then I see Eliana approach him. I feel another pinch in my heart. He might be waiting for her to finish the exam.
"What's wrong?" Cornelius asks.
I look into his eyes. I know there is a pleading look on my face, especially when I grab his hand that's on my cheeks. Under Calais' eyes, I feel weak and helpless. I always try to evade him and yet, I want him near. There's a lot of conflicting emotions inside of me when it comes to him.
