"I have a proposition to make," I say to it. "I will kill you right here, right now. Or you will give me direction to Levenstein's tomb and I will give you my blood, enough for an hour. If I survive, I will give you more."
The beast grins and wheezes at the same time. "Are you also a hundred years villainess? Sent here by that asshole Byron in hopes of defeating me?"
"Byron?" I ask.
"Yes! That full-blooded vampire whose only weakness is getting lost! He can't come here knowing that he'd lost and die, so he sends all those women for me to devour instead!"
"Oh," I say, remembering how he appears from time to time before me. Was he just lost then? That bastard. No wonder he and the previous Lyrica are tight!
And so, I watch as the half-vampire, half-elf monster struggles to stand up. Its body is covered in burns from my spell, but it still manages to grin at me with blood-stained teeth.
