The next morning, I wake up to find that Cornelius has arranged for me to visit the garden, accompanied by two guards. He also left me a set of new clothes and jewelry, probably a sign of his apology — as if material things will ever be enough.
I step out of the chamber and walk into the sun with my guards trailing behind me. There is also a servant in case I push myself too hard and my wound reopens.
The moment I arrive at the garden, the scent of roses fill my nostrils and their vibrant colors are a sight to behold. Everywhere I look, there are trees half-covered in blossoms and plants with blooming buds. White lilies float on a pond nearby and butterflies flit around each bush and flower bed as if dancing to some unseen music. Truly a marvelous sight. It's very different from the gardens in the Dunnett's mansion.
