I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around to see Cornelius standing behind me. "Should we end the night with one more dance?" he asks.
"My pleasure, my king," I reply, trying to still my wildly beating heart.
We begin to dance, but this time there is silence as he observes me. I, on the other hand, am still thinking about Calais.
As the music comes to an end, I pull back from Cornelius and bow my head to him. "Should we return to our chamber, my king?"
Cornelius smiles. He is back to his old self again. "Ha! I told you so. Someday, you will admit that you enjoy our days and nights together!"
"I am not admitting anything, my king," I jest.
But before I can take a step forward, a voice booms behind us. I turn around to see Frazier standing before us with a group of guards. He was freed a week ago and now, he is bringing Ramson's guards with him.
