Chapter 38 - Yun Chun is now more determined

As Yun Chun followed after the group of five, her eyes locked onto one figure in particular. When she was not far away she saw Ying Aiguo. Her heart raced with anticipation, for she knew that he was undoubtedly connected to the enigmatic man she had encountered in a past life.

Just as she was about to ascend to the fifth floor in pursuit of the group, a shadowy figure in black materialized before her, blocking her path. "I apologize, miss, but this area is strictly private. You are not permitted to enter," the man intoned with a tone of deference.

"Why am I being denied entry? Do you know who I am? I am the young miss of the Yun Family," Yun Chun seethed through clenched teeth, her impatience palpable as she addressed the indistinct man before her.

"I apologize, but this floor is currently reserved and access is strictly prohibited," the blurry man responded with a calm and collected demeanor, refusing to be ruffled by Yun Chun's haughty attitude.

Yun Chun observed the bodyguard who resolutely obstructed her path and the group of five individuals walking at a distance. Her heart raced as she realized she still knew nothing about the mysterious man walking mere steps away from her. Frustration and fear mingled in her chest as she glared at the stubborn obstacle before her, venomous thoughts swirling in her mind. With a huff, she spun on her heel and stalked away, her mind racing with possibilities. But just as she took a few steps, she looked up and her eyes caught sight of the group strolling nonchalantly across the balcony. Without a second thought, she whipped out her phone and snapped a picture, her identity shrouded in anonymity.

Upon reaching the ground floor, a voice called out to her, "Chun, where did you just go?" She turned to see Fen Hua, her insides twisting with disdain. Despite her inner turmoil, she managed to maintain a facade of sweetness and replied, "Brother Hua, I regret to inform you that I cannot accompany you any longer. I have pressing matters to attend to."

Fen Hua's hurt was palpable as he implored, "Chun, something is amiss. Please, tell me what's wrong."

Suppressing her irritation, Yun Chun continued to feign sweetness, "Brother, there's nothing to worry about. Let's catch up another time." But her patience was wearing thin.

"Is it about Lin Chang?" Fen Hua asked, his voice was full of disgust as he took Lin Chang's name. Yun Chun looked away, unable to meet his gaze. Anger flared in Fen Hua as he realized what he guessed was right "It's okay, Chun. Call me when you reach home," he said before storming out of the hotel lobby.

"What a buffoon," she thought to herself, shaking her head in disbelief. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down before approaching the reception desk.

As she walked towards the reception area, the attendant's eyes flicked over her designer outfit and accessories, a sweet smile spreading across her face. "Good afternoon, young miss. How may I assist you today?" she asked politely.

Yun Chun forced a smile, trying to hide her annoyance. "Hi, I'd like to book a private dining room on the fifth floor," she said, her voice clipped and curt.

The receptionist's expression fell. "I'm terribly sorry, miss, but the fifth floor is fully booked at the moment," she said apologetically. "However, we do have a variety of other dining options available."

"What? how could this be? Yesterday when my friend asked, it was available, but today suddenly it's all booked" Yun Chun said, she acted as if she didn't know anything and was casually asking.

The receptionist, a natural-born gossip, scanned around with eager eyes, her instincts already primed to spill the beans. "It's a VIP guest, miss. And not just any VIP, mind you. They've summoned our top-notch, five-star Michelin chef all the way from the capital. Talk about a power move."

With a nonchalant air, Yun Chun tried to probe the receptionist for more information. She knew that the receptionist was a gossipy type, always ready to spill the beans on any juicy news. "Do you have any idea who this VIP guest is?" she asked, feigning innocence.

The receptionist's eyes lingered on Yun Chun's luxurious attire, and she felt a sudden urge to divulge the secret that had been entrusted to her by the hotel's authorities. Without hesitation, she spilled the beans, "Actually, it's the owner of our hotel chain - the young master of the illustrious Zhi family."

"You mean to say, Zhi Qiang?" she uttered, her voice laced with incredulity. Yun Chun's eyes widened in disbelief as she processed the shocking revelation. Could it really be Zhi Qiang who was following her mysterious man? The realization hit her like a bolt of lightning, leaving her reeling with a mix of emotions - surprise, confusion, and a tinge of fear.

Afterall who was Zhi Qiang, really? He was the sole heir to the Zhi family, one of the most prominent and influential families in the Capital - no, the entire world. Their wealth and power knew no bounds, and they were ranked as the third richest family in the country and the tenth richest in the world.

If Zhi Qiang was indeed involved with this mysterious man and was actually following his behind, then what could be the true identity of the mysterious man who had captured her attention?

Yun Chun's mind was a whirlwind of endless possibilities, each one more tantalizing than the last. She had always believed that the mysterious man was powerful, perched atop the pyramid of success, but now, as she watched Zhi Qiang trailing behind him like a mere mortal, she realized just how far and high he truly was.

Her heart raced with panic, and she clutched at her clothes, desperate for some semblance of control. She closed her eyes, trying to calm the storm within her, and in that moment, she remembered her past life. She remembered the misery and suffering that had plagued her in her final days, and she knew that she could not let history repeat itself.

With newfound determination, she opened her eyes and gazed up at the fifth floor, where the mysterious man had disappeared from view. She knew what she had to do. She would marry him, no matter the cost. He would belong to her and her alone.

With a final glance at the hotel lobby, she strode out into the world, ready to claim her destiny.
