I was swimming in this river like I have been doing for my hole life but this instant it felt different
like instead of just mindlessly swimming following my instincts to survive I was making my on choices
'wait what are these words what do they mean?' then it was like a explosion happened in my head as a large amount of information that I couldn't have known
like how I'm a grass carp what is grass I don't know but I think carp is a fish and a fish is what I am
'but if I'm a fish why do I have so much information fish are mindless animals trying to survive and reproduce' but I feel like there is more to this like if I look deep into myself I can find a answer to my question

'I have a status!?' no that's not possible I'm a normal fish only monsters have access to the status but yet I have one
'I'm getting distracted were am I' after a bit of spacing out and looking at my status I finally became aware of where I am
I'm in a river I knew that already but more specifically in a calm shallow area with other small fish swimming around
'even if I have a status it's useless if I don't level but all of these fish are big and scarier then me T_T' I feel depression hitting in but just then I see a splashing the corner of my vision
'is that a frog? why is it swimming most of the time they are on the lilypads watching out for bugs' the frog was just swimming in circles
'did this frog hit its head or something? because it was just asking to be killed' I could see a large catfish come from the deeper part of the river it seems it wanted to eat the frog
but just before the catfish got to it the frog began to swim to the shallow area to get on the shores slowing down the closer it got
'wait! I got a plan!' as the frog got closer I swam right under its path and once it got close I bit down on its front leg using the bite skill to inpower the bite
with the skill active I was able to puncher the skin tasting it sweet blood in my mouth as it starts to struggle making it bleed more
'ow this is bad better get outta here' as the frog's blood spread though the water other fish started to swim here to eat the frog
the problem is I am holding the frog so they will almost definitely eat me as well
so I let go of the frog and swim away to watch as it is ripped to parts by a fish

'what? but I didn't kill the frog the other fish did' I could find any reason to why It said I killed it until a thought came to my head
'what if it said that I killed it because the other fish didn't have a status and I did' it made the most sense so that is what I want with
'well that's not important right now what is important is that I leveled up twice and I need to think of what to do with my levels'
'well one point has to go to my teeth if I can't even puncher skin without using a skill is bad like really bad'
'but should the other go into well let me think adding to eyes is useless right now as anything that can hit me outside of my sight is to strong for me already'
'so that leaves my scales or my fins? one makes me slightly harder to kill and the other makes me faster both have their own pros and cons'
'Ahhh this is to much thinking I'm just going to add it to whatever side of this rock lands on scales being top and fins bottom' with my mouth I throw a rock and watch as it falls on its bottom

I feel a slight tickle on my fins but not much of a change but my mouth on the other hand felt like I had bigger stronger teeth
'awesome now I might be able to eat weak animals' I already found my next prey in the form of a small mud crab
the crab didn't notice me approaching as it was more focused on eating some long dead fish like what idiot would get so distracted by eating
back to what I was saying I somehow got behind it and launched myself at it biting down on its back and I kept swimming till I hit a rock that stunned the crab
next I flipped the crab and started biting at its leg joints making the leg come off so it couldn't run away but it could still defend itself with its pincers I found that out the hard way
I swam around to its back and bite down again but this time with my skill active but it wasn't enough to kill it just crack its shell
one of it pincers came down grabbed me digging into my flesh making pain shoot out from my side but yet I still continue to bite down watching as more and more cracks appeared on its shell
'sorry mr crab but you know how it is I just want some food so I don't starve' I activate bite again braking passed the shell and ripped a large chunk out of its back

'it seems that I didn't get enough exp to level up very well then that's fine I just wanted some food anyway' the crab itself didn't have that much meat so I was barely fed as most of it went to healing my wounded body
as I was eating the crab something came up behind me grabbing me and slamming me against the river bed
'well I guess this is karma for being distracted' bringing myself back to focus I saw a large mud crab easily double the size of the first crab
'ohh y-you must be papa crab I'm sorry for killing one of your kids' the massive crab moved one of its monstrous claws to grab me again but I swam right out of there as fast as I can
when I finally stop swimming I found myself in a shallow water cave inside of the river with a constant beeping going on in my head till I checked my status notifications

'well that's useful but for now where am I?' I found myself in a area void of any fish but had hundreds of small black dots with tails
'wait aren't those tadpoles why are there so many of them and why am I the only fish here' I was looking around as to why I'm the only fish here till I looked back at the only entrance
'wait is this like a hidden cave were the frog's lay their eggs' it makes sense as the only water entrance was from the crab territory and the crabs are to big to get in here
'you know I think I have a wicked idea what if I eat all of the tadpoles here to grow stronger to beat the mega crab' I start to chase after a tadpole to eat it

'makes sense it will take a lot more tadpoles to level up then with anything else but tadpoles can't fight back' thus began my hunt on the tadpoles
at first I just swam after them but I was only able to get one or two of them at a time so I started using my sprint skill to catch them by surprise
but then they started to hide under small rocks and sticks so I had to start using my bite skill to break their hiding spots
but near the end of my hunt I checked my status to see how far I grown

'hehe that tickles' just like last time I felt a slight tickle go through out my body and then my scales became slightly more shiny
the teeth in my mouth became sharper and I even gained some new teeth I think they are called the canines they help cut into meat
'I think it's time to go back to hunting because almost all of the tadpoles are done then next will be the crab' the tadpoles had a harder time hiding from me as even if they hide I could break what they are hiding under
once there was five or three left I had a overwhelming urge to sleep but I didn't so I checked my status again

my world turns black and then I find myself floating above a river that forks in three different directions just like me each river has a fish floating above it
the fish to my left was slightly bigger than me with a small amount of rock around its face acting like so armor
the fish directly in front of me was longer than me and had these small spikes going down its back
the fish to my right was exactly the same size as me but it had these thick legs making it stand up above my height
after looking at each fish their evolution windows open to show me what they get for choosing them
