As the treacherous ordeal now ended, all that was left was the annoying part, facing my father and stepmother. I could hear them arguing even though I was in my room. Taking a deep breath, I left the room and headed downstairs.
Upon seeing me, my stepmother's face contorted even further as she faced me. I could see the veins popping out of her forehead and the fumes of anger practically oozing out of her hair. The maids and butlers around made hushed noises as she walked towards me.
*Slap*
The sound of her slap ensued silence in the room as it rang through the hall. Her breathing was hard and the anger in her eyes was not yet satiated. It looks like I'd have to play the poor child for a while longer. She landed another slap as she just stared at me.
"Where have you been? You useless brat."
Upon hearing this question, I tried my best not to laugh. I couldn't believe that these swine actually left me for dead and scurried back home. Normally, I'd already end their existence but for now, I'll let things play out. I just have to pretend to be scared and remorseful.
"I'm sorry. During the confusion, I got mixed in with the crowd and was unable to find you so I decided to wait for you guys at home."
She landed another slap on me yet again as her crazy eyes looked at my tear-filled eyes.
"You ungrateful bastard. How dare you? It would have been better if you died in that ruckus. Wretched cattle, if it weren't for your father here, I would feed you to the monsters. Go to your room and no dinner for you."
My acting was quite good but the anger boiling in me seemed to have sipped out a bit because just as I was about to head back, she pounced on me and let loose while she cursed at me. It took the efforts of my father and some servants to separate her from me. Her eyes were filled with hatred as she cursed at me to no end. This is what she wanted, the pieces seem to be falling into place now. I looked at my father, who just hung his head in shame, and then at Harvey, who for some dumb reason couldn't stop snickering. With all that nonsense out of the way, I headed back to my room with a smirk on my face. It was time to unbox the rewards I had gotten from my escapade.
As I reached my room, I sat on the bed and faced the ceiling as I mentally went through all I'd uncovered since I began this bizarre playthrough, and after a bit of reflection, I opted against unboxing my rewards just yet due to some yet-to-be-discovered variables. So I just whiled away time scheming through possible events in the future until I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in."
A maid walks in holding a tray of food. She cautiously surveys outside to ensure she wasn't followed before she shuts the door and lays the food on the table close to the bed then bows.
"I'm sorry if I've disturbed you but we couldn't bear to see you suffer so much and we decided to go against the madam's orders and brought you some food. I'm sorry again if I'm overstepping my boundaries here."
Maybe it was because of my experience but I could instinctively tell that something was amiss but it was best to let this play out and see where this goes. So I looked at her with my tired eyes and thanked her as I looked at the dish presented before me and my suspicions were confirmed with the screen in front of me.
[Poison Detected: A+]
Seeing the high potency of the poison, it seemed like they stepped up their game. I couldn't help but stifle a chuckle. She looked at me quizzically then bowed and left. Seeing how far they'd go to end me, I couldn't stop myself from taking a few bites but only after I was certain that the maid had stopped spying on me. At first, it felt like nothing happened so I continued to consume the delicacy till the last bite. They did a good job masking such a potent poison but I couldn't help but wonder how they were going to cover up this assassination. Too bad no one's going to find out the answer. So I got to my bed and patiently waited to see what would happen.
It was now around midnight and the poison seemed to be having little effect. My vision was now blurry, my stomach and chest felt like they were being ground, my body felt a bit numb and I couldn't focus but my body wasn't losing out to such a poison. In fact, during the course of the three hours, it looks like my normal resistance to poison has increased.
[Poison Resistance B-->B+]
Everything was going according to plan, all I had to do was wait for the fly to be trapped. Just then, I caught a whiff of some strange energy. I don't know why I couldn't sense this before. Was the poison causing me to be sensitive? That didn't matter, my joy was through the roof. I could sense it, this energy could only belong to one life form, the peak of all life forms, a dragon, and from its little intensity, it was yet to hatch. I couldn't help but chuckle which caused intense pain in my stomach. Plans changed effective immediately.
First, I change to my original stats, instantly nullifying the poison and rejuvenating my body to full health then I activate a mirage and a barrier around the room and lastly, I lock onto the position of my prize and teleport to its general location.
Once my plans were done, I found myself in front of a small medieval house. If I got my bearings right, I was now in the city of Doria, which was just behind the capital. It now made some sense as to why Oreia came to attack but who was to guess I'd find the fourth this soon? I started laughing as I stood in front of the door. It was the dead of night so no one was around to witness what was about to go down. I summoned a cloak, which altered my people's perception of me.
*Knock* *Knock*
No response.
*Knock* *Knock*
No response.
*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*
Still no response. I had enough and was about to blast the door open (I had already set up an invisible sound barrier around the house just for what was to come.) when the door opened and a middle-aged woman with blonde hair popped her and looked at me. Her eyes looked tired but alert as she tried to analyze me.
"Who are you?"
I could sense everything in the house so it took me only a little while to piece together what was going on.
"I need to speak to your husband."
Just the mention of her husband sent shivers down her spine. Her body was visibly shaken as she tried to shut the door.
"Sorry, but he isn't around."
I hold the door just as it is about to be shut and push it open.
"You're a really bad liar."
"Get out of here. How dare you barge into my..."
Tired of hearing her annoying chatter, I blow a hole through her stomach.
"Quiet down. You're so loud."
She falls to the ground coughing out blood. This would have ended differently if she only acted more reasonably but life isn't fair. I walked up to an unusual-looking floorboard and plied it open. To no surprise, it revealed an eerie basement. Walking down the stairs, I was hit with the unpleasant smell of corpses and weird medicines, and a laboratory lay before me. At one corner of the lab, a man with grey hair is mumbling about stuff at the corner and not too far from him lay my treasure.
My anger began to boil as I sensed the suffocating energy of the dead around this one place. This is no place for a jewel to dwell in. This man has to pay for his arrogance and stupidity. I made my way to the center of the lab before the man could realize my presence. He spun around and gazed at me with terror then anger.
"What are you doing here? What is that stupid woman doing? Get the hell out of here."
He's barking orders at me? His arrogance has no end, it seems.
"Your wife is having a blissful sleep and you'll be joining her soon."
The man began to laugh crazily as he held his face.
"All you heroes are the same. You think you just come here and do whatever you want. You need a reality check brat."
As soon as he finishes, three chimeras appear behind me. They are all made from a human base which was funny to me. Toying with this fool would be fun but I've got other things to attend to. With one swipe of my hand, all three chimeras were cut into tiny bits.
"I have no time to play with flunkies like you."
He was overcome with a fear, one which far surpassed his last encounter which changed him. Just by looking at the evil smile plastered on his face, the fear that he felt made all other feelings in his life feel like a lie. Before his brain can process what he is truly feeling, he finds himself prostrated.
I let out a hearty laugh seeing his total 180 but props to him. Most would have gone insane just witnessing this sheer force up close. He crouches and grabs the man's head.
*Crunch*
In one swift motion, his head was now a bloody mush. I grabbed the egg with loving care and sent it to my spatial dimension. My mission was complete.
I swiftly made my way back to the house and I saw five children gathered around their mother's dead body, all crying. The noise from the commotion probably woke them up. What a bother. The eldest looked at me with bloody rage. All he could think of was probably how he could murder me and the extra blood on my robe wasn't helping things.
He grabs a small knife and charges towards me while screaming. He looked like a big idiot at this moment, flailing over such a trivial matter. What a pity? I summoned Eupherion and quickly and accurately made him headless while activating [Fireball] and burning his body. The flame didn't affect anything aside from his body. The other kids were stricken with fear and I couldn't blame them so all I could do now was just end their misery before it got any worse. In the same fashion, I slice all four of them in half. My work was done here and so I teleported back home.
I could hear footsteps coming towards my room. In a flash, I deactivated the mirage and barrier then got on the bed. As the footsteps got closer, I lowered my pulse and slowed my heartbeat to give the illusion that I was about to die. All that's left is to see how the assailant responds.
A maid with auburn hair and red eyes enters. Her eyes were sharp and ears alert as she took in her surroundings in a second. Her utmost focus is on her target as she gradually walks towards him. Her sharp ears are honed towards him, allowing her to hear everything around him, his muscle contraction, his declining heartbeat, and even the flow of blood in his body. With all this, she concluded that her prey was not going to last long. Even with this knowledge, she was still cautious. Her line of work had taught her how terrible falling into the unexpected could be but she had the confidence that she could succeed in this mission.
She was now just a few inches away from her target. She brings out the blade hidden beneath her clothes and coats it with the poison secreted from her body. This was enough to end his suffering and all it'll take is one graze and what made it more efficient is that it disappears with time so it is untraceable and incurable.
She's about to slash his throat but a chill runs through her spine as his lips curl into a nasty smile. Her instincts are all screaming for her to run away to avoid death but it came all too late. Before she could even process the thought of escape, he had already twisted to an inappropriate angle. She slumps to the ground lifelessly.
My assailant was now dead but now I was stumped. Just then a brilliant idea popped into my head. I gazed at the dead body with an evil grin. It was time to experiment. If this goes well, I'd be getting a good slave and intel on those who want me dead. I already had a hunch but I needed confirmation.
I pulled out Oreia's corpse and laid it beside the maid's. I'd healed all of the corpse's physical wounds. This was the first time I'd be trying this type of body assimilation on others. For the most part, the maid's essence (soul) was still intact so theoretically, this should work without a problem but who knows?
I broke the maid's body into particles and guided them into Oreia's corpse. To an onlooker, this may seem easy but it requires a lot of knowledge of essence and the ability to handle it as well as a ton of focus. I also injected the elements of chaos, demonic, divine, light, darkness, wind, fire, water, and air into her to make her a more versatile puppet. Lastly, I offered up a bit of my blood to seal the deal on the master-servant contract and now all that was left was to wait for the results.
Two hours later, she opened her eyes and looked around. It was a success. She stood up and looked at me for a moment before bowing to me.
"I am pleased to meet you, master."
A few things about her changed. Her voice was now sweet with far less power behind them. Her snow white was now silvery and her gold eyes were now dyed with a tint of red. Her white scales remained flawless but the energy she exuded was exceptionally weak as compared to her previous self but stronger when compared to the girl. She'd make quite the pawn to use. Her loyalty to me looked evident as she hadn't even raised her head yet. I could also tell what was going through her mind due to the master-servant bond. She wasn't clothed but that was none of my concern. It was time to get down to business.

I stood up and approached the window, "They want me six feet beneath already." I smiled as looked out the window. Fiona sat across from me, her gaze fixed on my face, waiting for me to speak, "And now it's time to return the favor." Fiona's expression shifted, a look of pleasure crossing her face. "Fiona, you will start with butler, but there's more to the story than just him," I said. "There are others who were in on the plot to assassinate me. And I think you know what to do with them."
"Certainly". She bows. "I have nothing else to say, you may leave". Fiona nods slightly as she makes her exit.
I laid down on my bed, my thoughts raced as I tried to figure out my next move. The eggs, where they could hatch and grow strong. I pondered my options, my eyes grew heavy and I drifted off to sleep.
"There I sat, sprawled across my bed like a starfish. In my hand, I held a dragon egg. The surface of the egg shimmered with chaotic energy. It pulsed and rippled like a living thing. I'd spent weeks infusing it.
That should be enough, I muttered as I glanced across the other dragon eggs radiating with different energies.
*Knock* *Knock*
" Come in". The eggs dispersing into my spatial dimension.
Fiona walks in. She carried a tray with a steaming teapot and two cups. She set the tray on the table and poured me a cup of tea, then handed it to me with a smile. "There you go, Master Alistair."
I took the cup and sipped, I felt something strange. My magic felt as though it were coming back to me, replenishing itself drop by drop. I felt a bit stronger, but something about the sensation was unsettling.
[Herb Tea: B+]
"Impressive".
"I am pleased you like it" She smiles.
"I pondered the peculiar effects of the tea, Fiona said, "Master Alistair, your father wishes for you to attend the heroes' training session." I set my cup down with a clatter. "I don't want to attend that nonsense," I said with annoyance. "It's a waste of my time, and the so-called heroes are all buffoons." Fiona looked at me with a sad expression. "Master Alistair, your father is concerned about your indoor activities. He feels that you need to be more active, and that the training session would do you some good." I frowned. " displeased by such news.
"I decided that it couldn't hurt to go to the training session, just this once. I drained the rest of my tea and set the cup down. "I'll be there in a minute," I said to Fiona. She curtsied and took the tray and the empty cup out of the room. As I stood, I felt the power of the strange tea course through me. It seemed to be filling me with energy.
I left my room and began to make my way to the training field. As I turned the corner, I saw the castle's training grounds spread out before me. The field was enormous, large enough to hold an entire army. There were targets set up for archery, wooden dummies for sword practice, and pits filled with sand for hand-to-hand combat.
The heroes had already arrived.
"Hello Alistair" Kyoto signals my awareness as I approach them.
"I heard you were sick, Harvey said you had to stay in bed for weeks to recover," she said with concern.
"Hello, Kyoto," I said, a little more warmly this time. "Thank you for your concern, but I'm fine now." Kyoto smiled. "I'm glad to hear it.
"Hello, Alistair" a voice called out. A young lad approached me. He looked excited, and I recognized him from somewhere. "My name's Rylan. Rylan Gunnar," he said, extending his hand.
"We met at the summoning ceremony, you didn't give me a chance to introduce myself back then" he continued still awaiting the handshake.
I hissed within, "Yes, we did" declining the handshake.
Rylan frowned as he slightly put down his hand with a smile.
"You must be here to see us in training, why don't you meet the rest"
He gestured to the wooden dummies section.
"This is Vicktor. He is our tank in the operation".
A tall muscular man stood before me. He was bare-chested drenched in sweat as he leaned on a huge sword, absurd for a regular human to carry.
He didn't say anything, his dark piercing eyes gazed down at me.
" Hello," his voice deep as he uttered It.

"The stats on this kid are way too high for his level," I thought to myself.
"Blessed human?" I thought to myself. "That's not a race I've ever heard of before. Is this some kind of special class, or did the developers add something new to the game?" I felt a bit out of the loop.
I looked around, I noticed that all of the other heroes had the same race listed as the boy. "Blessed human." I felt a chill go down my spine. Something was definitely up. Was this some kind of bug, or was it part of the game's storyline?
"Kyoto is the mage, She deals in both offense and defense". Rylan continued.

Disappointing, I hissed under my breath. Kyoto was still on top.
" Funny" a tiny voice comes up from behind.
"For an NPC, you seem to have a prideful manner" Before I could blink,I found myself face-to-face with a short petite brunette.
Did she just call me an NPC?
"Unperturbed words coming from a little girl". I countered with a smug.
Her sharp look turned to an intense glare.
"I am 20,Noble snot.Watch your Words"She said,annoyed.
"It is alright,Susan. You started it anyway".
Kyoto cuts in.
The brat becomes speechless as she walks away.
"That's Susan,She is the Hunter".Kyoto gave the introduction.

I was intrigued by the "Bloodlust" skill she had it can be an incredibly powerful skill, but it came at a cost. She had very little defense, which meant that if she ever got hit, she would likely go down quickly.
"Good,Everybody has arrived"I stood there, taking in the scene as I heard a deep voice echoing throughout the field.
I noticed the familiar faces approaching us . There was Boroughbridge, a tall, muscular man with a cruel grin, and Aval, a petite woman with a sly smile. They were both dangerous opponents, and I'd had some unpleasant experiences with them in my past life. Just the sight of them brought back unpleasant memories. My face twisted into a scowl.
A shiver ran down my spine as I heard Boroughbridge's voice. "You must be Harvey's brother, Alistair," he said. I turned to face him, trying to maintain my composure.
" I heard you were sick. It is a relief to see you in full recovery" he said
I nodded

Talk about loyalty to the Kingdom, I snared in mockery.
" Alright!".Boroughbridge's voice rang out across the training ground. "Today, we're doing things a little differently," he said. "Rylan and Kyoto, you'll be sparring together. Susan and Viktor, you'll be sparring as well." The heroes looked at each other in surprise, but they quickly got into position. "Begin!" Boroughbridge called out, and the sparring ."Harvey, you've been training hard," Boroughbridge said, noticing that Harvey was still panting from his previous exertions. "Take a five-minute break and watch the others spar. Learn what you can from their techniques." Harvey nodded.
I couldn't help but smirk inwardly at Boroughbridge's statement. "Tired from sword swings?" I thought. "He barely even breaks a sweat sparring with the other heroes." It was clear that the others didn't take him seriously as a sparring partner, as he was still at a relatively low level compared to them. I wondered if Boroughbridge knew this, or if he was just deluding himself.
As I watched, Rylan and Kyoto circled each other warily, each one probing for weaknesses. Rylan's sword glowed with an otherworldly light, and Kyoto's hands crackled with electricity. Suddenly, Rylan charged forward, his blade flashing in the sunlight. Kyoto's eyes flashed, and a wall of ice appeared between them. The sword struck the ice, and a shower of sparks flew. The ice wall shattered as icy mist spreads. Rylan scans the area for her location, He instinctively moves back as kyoto pounces into his previous location. The heroes were evenly matched, and the sparring continued.Over in the other corner of the training ground, Susan and Viktor were engaged in their own battle. It was a stark contrast to the one being waged by Rylan and Kyoto. Viktor was a tank, built for absorbing damage, while Susan was a hunter, specializing in ranged attacks. They clashed together, their weapons clanging loudly. Viktor's massive shield absorbed blow after blow from Susan's bow, while she dodged and weaved around his swings. It was a different kind of dance, but no less impressive.
"They've come a long way, haven't they?" Boroughbridge said, still watching the matches intently. "They may still be young, but they've got potential. And with the right training, they could be formidable opponents for the Demon Lord." I knew he was right.
Gremory isn't all that. I thought. I did one shot him.Well,he exploded.
After the sparring matches were over, the group gathered to practice their mana control. Kyoto, Rylan, Susan, and Viktor all stood in a circle, eyes closed, concentrating on the mana within them. They all looked calm and focused, their mana flowing freely through their bodies. But when it was Harvey's turn to join the circle, his face was twisted with anxiety and fear. He tried to concentrate, but his mana refused to cooperate. It was as if his body was rejecting the magic, and it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to control.
Well,He had none anyway.
I couldn't help but smirk as I watched Harvey struggle with his magic training. He was clearly not a natural, and it was obvious that he was getting frustrated. Suddenly, he turned and glared at me, his face red with anger. "What's so funny?" he demanded, his voice shaking with emotion. "You think this is easy? It's not, and you have no idea what it's like!" I was taken aback by his outburst.
I didn't know how to react. I wanted to go on with the mockery or I should straight up tear him from limb to limb.
I did none. My smile disappeared as I watched him rage.
Harvey's anger reached a boiling point as I remained silent, unable to offer him any words of comfort. He snatched up his blade, pointing it at me. "I'm not useless!" he screamed, his voice cracking with emotion. "I can do this! I can do it!" The others stood by, watching in tense silence, not sure what to do. No one wanted to get involved, but no one wanted to abandon Harvey either. They all just stood and watched, hoping that the situation wouldn't escalate.
The thought of giving up on the scenario or finishing Harvey off was unappealing to me. I didn't want to end things.Instead, I wanted to have some fun. So, I started playing with him, hoping to lighten the mood and make him feel better. "Come on, let's play!" I said, trying to be cheerful and upbeat. "Let's have s..
Before I could finish,Harvey lunged at me,sword in hand, his rage evident in every step. His movement s were clumsy, like a drunk stumbling through a battlefield.i didn't want to push things further, so I stepped back my eyes following the slow arc of his blade. It barely kissed the fabric of my shirt, but it was enough to make it seem like a real strike. The sword tore through the cloth, and I let it hang loose,as if he'd actually managed to land a meaningful blow.Harvey stood there, breathing heavily, thinking he had accomplished something.
Harvey, still fuming, made another clumsy attempt to attack, but before he could reach me, Rylan and Viktor rushed in. They grabbed hold of him, trying to calm him down, holding him back as he struggled. I almost wished they'd let him go let him make more of a fool out of himself—but it was over now. His tantrum had been cut short.
I turned to leave, ready to be done with the whole scene, when Kyoto approached me, her face full of concern. "Are you alright? Did he hurt you?" she asked softly.
I glanced at her,"No".I said.my mind was elsewhere. Harvey hadn't done much of anything, not really. "Barely," I thought to myself, dismissing the whole thing.
I left, realizing there was nothing fun to be found here anymore. Behind me, I could still hear them trying to calm Harvey down, but he was still throwing his tantrum, shouting and struggling like a child who hadn't gotten his way. It was pathetic, really.
