I've reached the end.
"What a fucked up story," I commented after reading the last page. I slump my hands at both sides as I stare blankly at the ceiling while recalling the events in the book.
It doesn't make any sense. Killing many characters just to attain a single happy ending didn't do justice to the side characters. The author didn't even consider whether they are the protagonist or the villain, they just write and erase someone's life.
Rethinking it just annoys me more.
Although the plot is messed up, I can't deny it's a great story. There are a lot of twists nobody would've thought to happen. And mysteries you want to crack so hard. It's interesting.
I glance at my clock at the side table and see it's already past midnight. "Woah, I didn't notice the time." I tried to stop myself from reading another chapter but there is this unknown force that wants me to keep flipping the pages.
Now, the events kept on playing in my head like a movie pushing away the drowsiness I have earlier.
The story revolves around a soft-hearted young lady that is a medical specialist in an organization - an organization where her father works before passing, which she later follows his legacy fighting the odds in their society.
The organization is known as Order of Skyer - the pride of the kingdom for their principle and duty of protecting the weak. The Female lead had a lot of love interests, I could say it's kind of a harem. She even attracts even the psychos.
What a dangerous girl. I thought.
The story goes about the kingdom having a civil war - It was a fight between nobility, the rebels, and the Knights of Skyer who fought for their own idealogy till death.
There are only two main love interests, the Crown Prince and the Vice Commander of the Knights of Skyer.
These two whose belief and personality contradicts each other became rival for the love of a single woman. Yet, as the story goes on along with their romance, many people are dragged down for the sake of their passion and goals.
Be they innocent or not, they are victims and they died.
Recalling that just annoyed me again.
"In any case..." I paused for a moment. "Why is it always my favorite character that ends up dying?" I asked the air. "The author must get pleasure from hurting her readers. That's just crazy."
I also adore another character, unfortunately, he died after getting burnt at a stake. The heartless and merciless villainous side character is the reason I continued reading. For some reason, I'm drawn to him.
"Sengoku..." I like his character despite having loads of questions regarding his origin. He is the mystery I extremely wanted to solve. He was just introduced as a young knight by the Crown Prince's friend - a young lord and became his sword and shield.
Slightly adjusting my position, I turn to my stomach and seek for the book again heading straight at the bookmark of my favorite part where the female lead and Sengoku interact for the first time yet it appears like they did multiple times already.
My eyes search for Erina's line. "Ah, found it."
Here she says. "If the clock returns its seconds, will you come and take me?"
And Sengoku responded. "Even if I made the whole universe my enemy, I'll rewrite our sculpted destiny."
That's when I notice something on the paper. The scribbles weren't much visible underneath the light but there is a hidden writing.
I place it right where the light is, and the letters began to appear. "Turn the end." I read the words out loud. Like a spell cast upon me, my hand move flipping through pages till I arrive at the last blank paper and held it up on the lights again.
"Night shadowed the Day.
While the blood still last,
Correct the mistakes.
Melt Winter into a Blooming Spring,
Thus, our fate will change."
"What does that even mean?" I asked confused about the riddle.
Later on, I just decided to sleep cause I need it for tomorrow's exam. Come to think of it, instead of studying I spend my day reading the novel.
I scoff at the thought. Drowsiness visits once again and my eyelids start to flutter as I fall into the endless darkness.
*********
A presence jolting me awake suddenly felt in the dark corner of my bedroom that night lurking in the shadows, its piercing gaze boring a hole in the back of my head chaining me to my bed unable to move. It was dense and suffocating and I start to sweat coldly.
Goddamnit! This is why we pray to expel evil beings of the night. I remain still, calculating every exhale I breathed cautiously at my visitor until I didn't notice I fell asleep again.
*******
What? Where? WHAT? HUH???!!!!!!
The ceiling is what I should first see in the morning not the sky or trees but when I open my eyes I'm in a strange place. Did I sleepwalk? I never sleepwalk. Is this a dream? I slap my face and my cheeks sting. Where am I? I don't recognize this place!
"Yeshu, anve ni hagk, Ayie? Youm jiben alk wenvir ar la qoona, hal tari, dhi fhan tshato ni bon el ra taxien." (Are you awake now, dear? You play too much in the sun, come inside, I baked you some cookies.) I glance up and see an angel above me. She kneel down and cleans something on my cheek, I was too confused to say anything.
Who is this woman? What is that language she's speaking? Why the hell I can understand her? Did I get kidnapped? How the hell did I get kidnapped?! I lock my door!
"Goodness, wiping away the dirt won't do anything. Clean yourself inside before eating, alright?" The woman chuckles softly as she leaves first, it's like hearing an angel laughing. I followed her inside the house that is really unfamiliar to me and washed my face, I saw a mirror and check myself and my reflection skip my heartbeat.
Soft plum pinkish cheeks, big round emerald eyes, tiny hands, and long wavy brownish-orange hair... I've become a brat!!!
