On the night of the full moon, a haunting scene unfolded as thousands of lifeless corpses lay strewn across the land, reminiscent of the aftermath of a great battle—a river of blood flowing through the landscape.
Amidst this desolation, bushes, rocks, and dirt were flung with terrifying speed as nature's wrath swept over the land.
The air was heavy with the scent of blood and grief, mingling together in a poignant symphony. Painful memories etched into the very fabric of this place could never truly be erased, yet, at this moment, they seemed inconsequential.
This forsaken land was devoid of any living being, leaving behind only traces of their existence, slowly fading with the passage of time.
In this barren expanse, a solitary human survived, though the term "alive" hardly seemed fitting.
Within the encompassing darkness, a young man's existence hung by a thread, on the verge of crumbling.
Blood trickled from his dry, parched lips, and his once-vibrant crystal blue eyes lost their vigor as mind-numbing exhaustion overcame his willpower.
Pent-up regrets and emotions surged, and he began to curse the king of Aidni, whose actions had caused the deaths of many and led the nation to ruin.
"Why... why... why did this tragedy befall us?" he lamented, cursing his fate.
"That son of a bitch, the Demon King," he spat out, holding the malevolent figure responsible for the entire catastrophe.
After venting his anger for a while, memories of regrets flooded in.
"Father, where are you?" he mourned, missing his father, who had vanished.
"Mother... sob... sob..." he wept for his mother, whose life had been taken.
"Brother, if you were here, would you have helped me?" he wondered, even missing the sibling he had never been close to.
At the end of his tether, he began to murmur softly.
"If only I had one more chance, I vow to protect my family, my people, and my land."
"I'll save them all."
"Oh God, if you exist, give me a chance."
"I swear I'll slay that Demon King." The mana within him surged beyond control, and his body started to fade away.
"Perhaps this is the end of me," he pondered in his final moments.
Yet, a few moments later, a soft, soothing voice reached his ears.
"Do you want to live?"
