Chereads / Pessimist Reincarnated as a Worm / Chapter 25 - Quinn's Crossroad

Chapter 25 - Quinn's Crossroad

Quinn was merrily swimming on the bottom of the creek in and throughout the muddy and murky bottom. Through [Mana Sense], he could predict and detect predators from a decent distance away.

He figured going down the creek was no danger. On the contrary, Quinn figured his top priority was to get away from those battling maniac's.

'Survival first. Friends second. Ohh what the heck? Who am I kidding I can barely survive let alone make a friend at this rate. I might as well give up and just be like that giant worm. Or maybe something cooler.'

Quinn tried to think of the coolest thing to become. A dragon.

'Yes. that's it I'm going to become a dragon... I don't know how. But I'll try. I first need scales. Then legs, then arms and finally wings. Easy enough'

'These Skill Potentials sound like what I need. Finally my cheat skills have arrived!!!'

After a while Quinn was far enough away to forget everything that happened in that valley. But no matter how far he went he still felt something similar.

Dark Pine leaf. He didn't know how far this forest spanned but all he knew is that the fauna that made contact with it were insane with desire. For example all the worms and bugs disregarding their safety just to get a bite.

Not to mention the massive giant worm, Jörm.

Thinking about that clash Kuma and Jörm sent chills throughout Quinn's body. But it was all a distraction.

'Ok now what? I need to figure out these Skill Potentials. And let's not forget about this creek. Do i keep going? Eventually, this creek is either going to become a river or meet up with one. Does it even matter?'

Quinn couldn't gather much from what was outside the creek. The flow of the creek itself was slowing down indicating to Quinn that he was probably out of the "starter" valley and in another valley on some sort of plain. Still with Dark Pine Trees everywhere.

...

Quinn came to the cross roads. Stay in the water way and escape the Dark Pine Forest. Risk facing the unknown, the dangers of the rivers ahead. Or stay and survive. Maybe to at least get stronger.

For the first time since coming to this world Quinn felt lost. He has a clear goal. To become a dragon. But Quinn didn't know how exactly. Evolution options felt uncontrollable. So much so that he even questioned himself.

'Can a worm even evolve into a dragon?'.

It sounded ludicrous.

The only thing he could do was survive. The Dark Pine Forest had a sense of familiarity. Quinn could survive here.

So Quinn stayed.
