Chapter 1 - Closet

As I got into my bed to sleep since it was late and everyone in the orphanage has already slept, I heard a noise. It was coming from a closet—specifically my closet. All of us in the orphanage had our own closet but all there was is just 6 pairs of plain white shirts, 6 pairs of shorts (3 shorts and 3 skirts), 3 pairs of socks, and lastly black shoes. I cautiously stood up as I carefully examine my closet. Then I saw it through the small crack. A hand that was as pale as the winter snow opened the closet door a bit more. Then I saw a boy with bandages eyes and black-brown hair. I couldn't see anything else because the closet door was so slightly open.

This was enough to scare me though. I let out a small short scream that woke a girl up luckily the other 5 girls wasn't woken up. It was Melody. She was a average height 13 year old with long blonde hair that was neatly brushed and was usually tied into a one braid. She also had big green eyes that deceived everyone. Her big green eyes and blonde hair made everyone love and believe her but she was lying to everyone. Every time when she made a mistake she would blame it on someone or something. Her innocent looks made everyone believe her. Her tears and cries were as fake as they could be yet everyone believed her and love her. Although she may seem like a horrible person she wasn't as bad as you may think. She never really lies unless she's in trouble and in the end she is just a child who been abandoned.

"Astrid, why the heck were you yelling". Melody said, concerned. She had an annoyed expression.

"I saw something…in my closet". I said. My knees felt weak and I sat on the bed. My hand was shaking while I clutch on my white sleeping gown.

"Oh Astrid please don't tell me you think there is a monster in your closet, you're 13 already. Here I'll check". She said. She got out of her bed and her blonde hair flowed as she walked. She opened my closet to find nothing but some white petal.

"See nothing. Go to bed". She said clearly annoyed. She got onto her bed which was next to mine and she lay down on her bed to sleep. I decided that I was overthinking and I did the same.

The next morning I got out of bed and I opened my closet to find the white petal that was in my closet yesterday night to be gone. It was weird but I didn't think much of it since it was very early in the morning and I didn't have the energy to think. I took out a white shirt and a black skirt. Then I put on my white socks and black shoes before I went to the dining hall for breakfast. There were many kids in the orphanage I am at but I only have a couple close friend—Harmony, Florence, and Ophelia. Harmony was Melody's little sister but for some reason they hate each other. They look identical to each other except that Harmony has big ocean blue eyes. Florence had short light pink hair that was usually in a small bun held by a big purple flower clip. She was a little shorter than most 13 year olds. Ophelia has long and I mean very long black hair that was tied into a high ponytail. She had bright and big purple eyes and she was a lot taller than most 13 year olds. She was quite scary sometimes though she didn't try to be scary.

"Hey Astri. How are you". Florence asked as she walked near me.

"I thought I saw something in the closet and I screamed which woke Melody up". I explained. Florence nodded and we talked while we walked to the dining hall to grab our breakfast. It was nothing special. A bit of bread and some egg. After eating I met up with Harmony and Ophelia. They were talking about when they were going to get adopted while sitting on the swing set the orphanage had.

"I wish I'll get adopted soon but I'm already 13 and it would be rare for someone to adopt me". Ophelia said.

"Same with me. I hope they separate me and my sister". Harmony said her eyes filled with hatred which I never understood.

We talked a little bit more and then the day passed by fast. The orphanage was big and filled with stuff to do but the people that worked there wasn't the nicest. They would physically hurt us if we were misbehaving.

I said my goodbyes to Ophelia, Harmony, and Florence. I walked into the room where I am suppose to sleep and found my closet a little bit open and I saw the same boy there. Is this really a hallucinations?
